What's the saying.....'throw enough darts'....
Albanese is not morally responsible for what happened obviously but his government has been shamefully absent in tackling the scourge of anti semitism in this country.
i don't think he's been fair dinkum about it, it's hard not to think the political calculations of muslims outnumbering Jewish people 10 to 1 in Australia amongst voters doesn't come into his thinking.
Jews don't feel safe, his first priority is to do what he can as Australia's Prime Minister to try and deal with that.

Mate I'm sure you're equally scathing about the immigrants who dont assimilate into our culture and wave their swastiskas and other neo-nazi symbols and desecrate our war memorial.

They're so gutless they even cover their faces.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I see Albo just had to get right wing extremism into the conversation. What he calls right wing extremism is just normal everyday people and the numbers are growing, absolutely sick of the crap that spews out of his mouth.
The GG should remove him from office, he's not fit to run the country, he has brough the mass immigration problem in to solely gain votes and cause division. But that will never happen as he has appointed the GG, one of his mates, the corruption is out of control with this labour government.

Albo, Bourke and Wong have done nothing to stop the antisemitism, in fact their actions have encouraged it. If you cant see that you have your head up albo's ass, while youre there you can give Alan Joyce a blow job
The fact that Israel is continuing Genocide of the Palestinian people, daily slaughter of children, the continued occupation of lands ie West Bank, Gola Heights, continue to assassinate citizens of sovereign countries and i could go on re the evil , with 198 countries of the UN continue to condemn Israel for war crimes including genocide , the international court also unanimous in its findings.

That said Israel does a good job of antisemitism! if it looks like a pig and oinks like a pig it is a pig.

If you're a licenced and registered gun owner who is part of a club in the metropolitan area why aren't the guns stored safely and securely at the club, why do you need them at home? Perhaps that's a change that could be made.

By sitting on their hands and allowing the pro palenstine movement to do as they appease. Whilst not directly encouraging it, by not limitating the movement and protecting the jewish people as per their continued requests, it would only encourage the extremists idelogies knowing they would be able to do something like what occured on Sunday evening.

because they may want to go to a different club, or interstate, or whatever. they arent limited to only shooting at the one location. people in the metro area can also go hunting etc, and not even use them at the club. if you could just go to the storage location, and check them out to take them wherever, it literally wouldnt have stopped this happening.

how does one also then clean or maintain their guns? who is paying for all of this secure storage? im also not sure its the best idea to have a massive number of guns stored at a club, that for multiple days a week has absolutely no one in attendance. would be a massive target for theft. criminals could steal thousands at a time over the course of say monday to wednsday totally uninterrupted.

tightening the existing gun laws with the suggestions i have seen floating around, wouldnt have changed a single thing with what happened on the weekend. what might have, is if ASIO had contacted NSW police, and informed them that someone living at an address with registered guns was a known ISIS sympathiser, and something was then done with that information.

over in WA, this year i believe, people have had their firearms confiscated after owners made "questionable" social media posts (sov cit type stuff), why couldnt NSW do something after these people were identified as having ISIS links? a recognised terrorist organisation?

the suggestions of limiting numbers owned, wouldnt have stopped this, i believe the number being mentioned is 6. these two used less guns than 6, it wouldnt have stopped them. the end to "lifetime licences" i dont believe there are lifetime licences. they have to be renewed on the regular. 1, 3 or 5 year renewals here in SA. that is far from lifetime, as each renewal comes with police checks before it is approved. i actually didnt think that non permanent residents could even get a gun licence, but apparently you can in NSW. i have a mate that has migrated here from NZ a couple of years ago. he was licenced overe there, and owned several firearms. but cannot get a licence here in SA until he gets his citizenship sorted out. that would have stopped these two, as it was the dad with the licence, and he didnt have permanency (from what ive read) why isnt that being addressed?

the only suggestions ive seen so far will impact people that havent actaully done anything wrong, and wouldnt have actually stopped any of this if it was in place beforehand. its literally knee jerk changes that wont actually make anyone safer

i should add. im not saying dont make changes. but make changes that will actually work. instead of ill thought out rubbish, that just makes things harder for people that have not broken any laws, and are already some of the most closely monitored members of our society, but wouldnt have had any affect at all on what happened on the weekend.

2 sides to that argument.... that would require a storage area similar to a bank vault and how easy it can be for a dishonest club member gain access to them. Need to balance putting the responsibility on the owner vs having them all in one place to gain access to them.

Currently the rules are you can store up to 20 firearms in a standard gun safe with out CCTV or security alarms. If you have more than 20 you need CCTV/alarms.

If you have more than 30 hand guns or more than 50 combo you need the bank vault and CCTV and Police can conduct an audit at anytime.

They are a few things that I have to ask here, for clarity. The first is, what do you mean by the 'pro Palestine movement'? A large number of Australians feel great sympathy for the Palestinian people, especially in terms of the people of Gaza and the West Bank. Do you think there is something wrong in showing solidarity for the innocent victims of war?

Also, what do you mean by 'allowed to do as they please'? Are you suggesting that Australians shouldn't be allowed to protest in support of certain causes? If so, which? Who decides what causes are acceptable? Do you think that the police should be able to arrest and gaol folks who attend 'pro Palestine' protests? Bearing in mind, that this would amount to an extremely draconian (and arbitrary) impingement on the rights and freedoms Australians have always enjoyed.

'Limiting the movement' - again, what exactly are you proposing? Why should the government be limiting any political movement? One can't help but notice that many of the 'small government' types - this may not be you - are also advocating for very extreme curbs on freedom of speech, assembly etc.

I suspect you may be conflating support for Hamas - which the government has strongly condemned and taken action against - with support for the Palestinian people. These are totally different things.

I think banning those huge pro-palestinian marches could be a good step in the right direction,
they create fear, anger & aren't necessary here,
Hamas isn't going to go, "look on the TV, there's a march in Australia,
the Palestinians aren't going to get comfort from them, they don't even know they are happening!
As we have seen at these marches, they also bring in the wrong people, people that are there just to create shit,
marching over the Bridge with ISIS flags, WRONG!
protesting at Sydney Opera House, saying gas the jews & death to the IDF, WRONG!
Aussies just want their old way of life back!
We don't want to have to live in fear & the government needs to step up & show us that THEY ARE ON OUR SIDE!

There are unfortunately radicals on both sides of the spectrum.

The Jews have suffered greatly with some of the most inhumane atrocities committed against them; absolutely nothing condones any of those acts. The resistance against them under a Palestinian banner have committed some of these atrocities and should be forever condemned, let alone the atrocities committed by the Nazis.

The world has given the Jews an enormous amount of latitude to defend themselves from these attacks since the creation of the state of Israel, an act in itself which has caused deep resistance. Unfortunately, the Israeli government has overstepped the mark and in some eyes, has become a rogue state itself by grossly disproportionate responses.

The Palestinian resistance has been a disorganised mess for many, many years. The PLO under Yasser Arafat was originally a terror organisation but later developed into a legitimatised political movement, but in more recent times leadership has been Hamas in Gaza and the Fatah controlled Palestinian Authority in the West Bank.

The great tragedy is that there are a lot of moderates on both sides, but the Israeli government is littered with far right hardliners, and Gaza is brutally rules by the Hamas terrorist organisation, whilst the West Bank is governed by a much more moderate Fatah movement.

Israel’s complete disregard for anyone other than itself has been allowed to manifest to a ‘rogue like’ status … complete disregard of borders, illegal occupation of the West Bank, atrocities in Gaza, etc, etc, which fuel terrorise attacks and the vicious circle just keeps repeating.

The USA can take a lot of blame for enabling Israel to become what it is today, good and bad. The lack of any organised effort for those yearning for a Palestinian State, coupled with the infiltration of terrorist organisations makes it extremely difficult for the world at large to support the Palestinians.

It’s a complete clustefaaark which has no prospect of changing for the better any time soon.

The irony of Israel’s continual assertion that their opposition want to completely wipe them off the map is for them to commit acts to completely wipe the Palestinians from the map, which has to date, been largely successful for them.

Whilst all this chaos has been happening in earnest since the declaration of the State of Israel in 1948, it has been an ongoing issue for centuries.

So, did the Israelis ‘deserve’ the October 7 atrocity inflicted on them by Hamas? Of course not, it was a horrific event that must be universally condemned by all.

Did Gaza deserve to be completely obliterated and the people slaughtered as a response to October 7? No, it was and still is a grossly disproportionate response by Israel and has caused great suffering to many, many innocent people.

Did people celebrating a traditional Jewish festival at Bondi Beach deserve to be slaughtered ? Of course not, in no way justified and should be universally condemned.

Antisemitism is real but has unfortunately been around seemingly forever. Does any attempt to make the government of the State of Israel accountable for their actions make one anti-Semitic? No, not if it specifically targeted to their activities which fall directly outside of acceptable norms, which is what our Federal government has attempted to do.

Should those who violently oppose the very idea of a State of Israel be condemned? Absolutely and without question.

Should those who commit violent attacks on Jews or Israelis be condemned? Absolutely and without question.

This leads us to the following questions:

In Australia, should Federal government actions to make Israel accountable be considered irresponsible? Has the Federal government done enough to oppose those rogue groups and individuals who violently and unreasonably oppose Israel?

What effect has our guns laws had on this? What about our level and nature of immigration?

This is where people’s opinions will greatly differ.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

Always a contentious one.

Do you eliminate those who commit heinous crimes at the time, or allow them to survive to have the full weight of the Law applied against them?

Kill them in the act and they achieve their desire to be a martyr, to be used by others to further seed their ‘movement’ … or lock them up for eternity for a remaining life of misery … or invoke the ultimate penalty of capital punishment. (Refer back to the first one).

Pity von Einem has died, we could have put him in the same cell as von Einem with some medical instruments and a bottle or 2.
