Have heard similar.
Its all to do with allegations that Hird was injecting himself with banned drugs last year.
Even though there is no law against coaches doing it I would think the AFL will take issue with it if proven

I was under the understanding that all coaching staff also come under the ASADA code and cannot use banned substances.

I heard on the radio this morning that coaches were not under the same policy as players... something along those lines, but like Jim said, the AFL won't take a liking to this and will get that cleaned up quick smart

they still come under the same code as the players, but they don't get tested. They can use banned substances if they want. The only rules that really apply to them is the supplying of it and or being involved in it. If it is true they are going to stand him down then I will say Essendon are in big trouble.

Essendon just held a press conference and Hird is not standing down.
The club will wait for the ASADA investigation to be concluded before making any decisions

from what i've heard a lot of media waited until they had rock hard evidence before they reported it. doesn't look good for essendon or james hird.

I love the double standard here. My loyalty says support Hirdy and hope for the best. Pray that it all just dies away in a mire of legal mumbo jumbo. But if it was Buckley Id be all over it like a rash hoping he crashes and burns and should hand back his Brownlow. Amusing really.
