Would agree with you however that Div 2 (country) isnt of great standard. Mt Lofty B's would be challenging for a top 3 place, along with the cabbage cutters

Don't agree about kangarilla I think they are in for a bit of a shock. Some of the other teams will improve dramatically.
Top 5 teams should be on no particular order
Meadows
Nairne
Kangarilla
Kersbrook
Echunga

You will note I have TV out as I've heard they are struggling and have lost players.

Mt Lofty were a very very very good B Grade side but thats what they are. A b grade side. to say they would deal wit IB and shanty comfortably is rediculous.

As for IB pushing for premiership. thats a lil far fetched even to an IB supporter. some very good recruits and improved development from the loads of rookies should see a rise up the ladder. but lets not go that far

Anyhoo, IB's time in Country Div takes the pain out of our spoons somewhat. When the going gets tough, just go and play with Mikey Mouse? Not for the Devs. We're happy to stick it out for better times.

To be honest I think Maccy can only expect a mid range finish at best (between 6th and 10th).
If the league is sticking to their guns regarding the "3 player rule", Michael Foster is the only player that Maccy will be able to recruit as Murphy and Harford will already count as two. I think this rule is ridiculous when it is between divisions, espescially going from Central to Country. I can understand that the league doesn't want another Garry Hughes Gumeracha/Torrens Valley situation but that was in the same division after all.
I'm tipping that Nairne will find a way to underachieve again and they will only finish 5th at best.

i do agree about the last 10 theory in div 1 and div 2 side.
majority of the stars in div 2 would also be stars in div 1 in the right side.
westley is a great example... top player at kersbrook... top player at loby... top player back at kersbrook.

JC from kersbrook....Westley was one of about 8 SUPERSTARS in that side...would have only just been top 5 in that team. That Loby side chopper was in would pump Kersbrook...even with all their new boys

da your super b's include allot of players who prev played a grade. remember they were the players in the team that shanty were beating only 3 years ago. the good ones playing than are still in a grade while others are now in b grade, gts notiably. to say ur super b's are that good and would beat half the div 1 side is a bit over the top. yes there are some good players in b grade but there playing against other b grade sides. i think they would give shanty and ib a run but doubt they would win.

I'll pay that. Pretty accurate summary. I said some stupidly over the top crap today!!! I do think we would have beaten Shanty and IB last year though.

Last years Super B's would have beaten our A grade side from '04. Trust me I was part of both!

GTS will be shattered with you labelling him an 'other'!!!!! :lol:

Anyone know of Scotty Byrt getting offered big coin to return to play for Mt Barker. Is he handy, apparently played semi pro in the geelong league last year.

For another spin on the Central/Country divisions, there are obviously some clubs and players that are happy being big fish in little ponds.
For example...........
For those of us old enough to remember, Echunga had a fantastic side in '95 and '96 that went undefeated in Country and was led by the man with Ablett syndrome (Michael Aish) and had fine recruits from town including guys like Barnaby Gasket as well as home grown talent like the Young brothers, sniper Curnow and Pecker Rothe. They had a side that was capable of finishing mid range in Central (as they did late '80's/early '90's.) but guess what happened when they went to Central? All the players left and Echunga was forced to play guys in Central A grade who were only Country B graders the year before and they consequently got flogged in '97 and didn't win a game. A similar thing happened to Maccy in the Early '80's and I venture to say that the same would happen if (hypothetically) Kangarilla went Central in '08 or if Meadows went central in '08.

played football with 2 players from that league last year in nsw and one had won the league b and f. honestly was not that good. the league is very overated. dragecevics (ex afl now west) brother played for shanty few years ago and also was meant to be a allright player in that league and couldn't get a kick in the hills. but if you say this bloke is returning home may have prev played hills football and could be allright.
