Rocking into work and everyone asking "why are you here, aren't you on leave?".

I've got Thursday and Friday booked off and they thought my back up was doing my role for the whole week, just as well though, he had a sickie!!!

I think I'll request tomorrow and Wednesday off now though.

"supporters" who don't have anything positive to say about their "team" when the chips are down.
I don't get it.

Wasn't true for us. Even worse once she decided to call it a night I wasn't allowed to go and watch the band at the pub next door either #-o

I've been married twice and sex was the last thing on either of our minds by the time we went to bed.

Mind you, during the weekend of my 2nd wedding I had 3 decent sessions on the piss, I must've woken up still drunk and hooked into a few while I was cleaning up before feeling like a camp around 1ish for a couple of hours, only to be woken up again around 3pm for another round with a few of our close friends.

Phone rings

"G'day, Booney speaking"

"Yeah mate, I called you Monday, no answer? WTF?"

"Yeah, sent you a message saying I was off for two days"

"Got that, so?"

Cash account customer. Wonder where he'll spend less than f*ck all a month now?

Got a friend who noticed water flowing from a pipe leading from her house out to the kerbside gutter, I suggested that she ring the landlord to send someone to inspect it so she doesn't get lumped with a big water bill.

Dude comes out and assures her that there is nothing wrong and she has nothing to worry about, there clearly was a problem as it hadn't rained much and the water must be coming form somewhere.

I checked it out and noticed a noise coming from a water tank and immediately assumed that the float was rooted and that she should get them back to check it out again, they did after another week and came to the same conclusion as me.

Well they fixed it and then she got a $950 water bill for the quarter, she challenged it as she felt that it wasn't her fault so she shouldn't have to pay the whole amount, the landlord has told her that she has to and the case is closed, pretty crap.

She is in two minds now as her lease ends in December and she doesn't want them to turf her out if she takes the matter any further.

FWIW, the receptionist at the agent suggested that she does take it further.

I would take it further, start looking for another joint as well and bugger off once they find another place.

Imagine if the leak was inside the house and it caused damage!

She doesn't want to move, done a fair bit around the place and started a passionfruit vine that covers most of the fence down the side of the house now.

I agree with you though, I voiced my opinion.

Depends on what's in her residential tenancy agreement, and no surprise the landlord told her to bugger off.

The Residential Tenancies Act has some provisions on water liability, perhaps as a starter it's worth having a look at section 73: http://www8.austlii.edu.au/cgi-bin/viewdoc/au/legis/sa/consol_act/rta1995207/s73.html

Also, and probably more importantly, under section 68 the landlord has an obligation to repair - "ensure that the premises, and ancillary property, are in a reasonable state of repair at the beginning of the tenancy and will keep them in a reasonable state of repair having regard to their age, character and prospective life." http://www8.austlii.edu.au/cgi-bin/viewdoc/au/legis/sa/consol_act/rta1995207/s68.html

Presuming she has responsibility to pay for water under the lease, the argument would be that she shouldn't have to pay an exorbitant water bill that was a direct consequence of the landlord's failure to appropriately maintain the property.

It all makes sense Mag but the question that rings in my head is "Can they not renew her lease and advertise for new tenants with no grounds?"

That is her concern, she has never missed a payment and never broken anything but is worried if she challenges the bill she might have to move.
