My bet is he'll play half the season max as he'll be injured the whole time. He'll be a gun, but I don't think he'll have as big an impact as what would be expected from a recently retired afl player. We'll see i guess. I'd love to see Blackwood go another season undefeated and then go out of the finals in straight sets! I don't think it'll happen though...not losing a home & away game that is...

Good to get that trip out of the way early AT! That is a shit place to go in July when it's wet, muddy, windy as a bastard and cold as a witches tit!

Good to get Shanty and Mt Barker trips over early too.

On the road trip theme, how are people looking forward to the Birdwood trek. **** it's a long way to go. Anyone know what the oval and facilities are like? I've only driven through 1 or 2 times.

I drove past the other day and the "velodrome" is looking a treat!!

Last time I played there, their facilities were pretty good. Prob one of the biggest away changerooms in the league (at least 72 times bigger than Blackwood's!!) and the showers are hot - even if you have to share with them.

Witches tit. GOLD!
Is Birdwood the oval that almost comes right up to the main road that goes past it? I'm sketchy on it, don't know much about it.
AT - how are you guys looking this year. Improvement on last year. Will you miss Tarque or was he getting slow?

You will have a giggle when you see the oval, they could hold the olympic cycling around the boundary line. It is slight up hill but at the top the boundary must be at least a metre or so higher than CHF. I swear I saw a ball bouncing toward the boundary line stop and roll back towards the centre one day! The bottom end used to get really heavy, a bit like Blackwood i suppose.

From what I remember their change and club rooms are pretty good.

I thought that SHOCKINGLY designed velodrome was Gumeracha, the one near the rocking horse? That looks bloody aweful.

Gumeracha is slopey but more like Uraidla in that it slopes towards the club rooms. Birdwood is the oval behind the pub on the main street with the soccer pitch next door, opposite the motor museum.

Ironbank are looking much better this year, we have picked up more than enough players to cover those who left and all of the new guys have much better attitudes than those that have left. Everything is really positive and everyone is enjoying training and can't wait for the first hit out. With out knowing what everyone else is up to and really knowing what everyone is going to be like come round 1, we are confident of a big improvement on last years results.

Gumeracha oval is right next to the road and slopes from one side to the other towards the clubhouse.

Don't worry DA, Birdwood is only another 10 minutes from Lobey. It's no Kersbrook to Milang trip!!

As an ex birdwood player I'll have to say the oval takes a bit of getting used to. However its a reasonably big oval and if the conditions stay fairly dry the oval will remain in good nick. The scoreboard end of the oval can get very heavy with a few weeks of decent rain. As far as facilities goes I'd say the away change rooms will rival almost all central division clubs.

I recall now. Velodrome is pretty good summary really. I'll bring my bike for our runner!

I'm just complaining about the trip because I live at Bellevue Heights (dare I say next to blackwood). It's a bloody long way to me. Kersbrook to Milang would be a killer too!

GTS, sorry mate, i was talking about the country Champs at Berri. Dawesy and Perce both made the southern team. Not sure what team they were in for the hills association game, both are good enough for div 1 though.
RonnyB, havent seen Monty out at training lately, is he planning on staying at shanty, or is CBC or Meadows still an option??
ArmyTank, you playin in the Renmark trial?? i will be up that way when its on, might check out the new recruits!
