My android phone plays more formats than my pc does and my pc is loaded with 2 years of codecs. No conversion ever needed, it plays everything.
Even better you can use a torrent program on your android phone, then unzip it with your android phone, then play it with your android phone. :)

But can't you put in a disk right click copy and paste into your phone folder you still have to rip it to a formatt that you can play it in. There is plenty of apps that allow you to play different formats on the iPhone and also allow you not to have to use iTunes. For me I don't see why you would want to watch a movie on your phone I prefer to watch movies in comfort and be able to watch the whole movie not just bits and pieces here and there. Ok so your next point why iTunes is crap?

Why would I play discs? I download stuff before its out on discs.
I mainly download full tv series and watch them all the time, one at work at lunch, one in bed before I sleep and if I have to catch a bus one or two on there.
Don't have to convert anything, don't even have to drag and drop, just download the torrent, unzip and voila.
My phone plays, mpegs, avis and suprisingly mkvs.
I dont view discs on my phone, I view discs on my big screen tv.
I told you some of the reasons Itunes is crap before, I can't stand it and it obviously doesn't matter how many reasons I give you you'll just get upset so lets agree to disagree.

Have a look at your reply and also go back and have a look at why I was talking about dvds. The iPhone also plays avi mp4 mov fly xvid and mkv.

You have only given me 1 reason why you don't like it and that at best was pretty poor.

As much as I love my iPhone, iTunes is shit. I have a lot of albums on my laptop, as well as individual mp3s. I don't always want to listen to a full album by a band. iTunes doesn't let me just put an individual mp3 file on my phone. I have an iRiver mp3 player that all I need to do is create a folder, and put any mp3 i want on there. That's one reason why iTunes is shit.

Last time I put music on my phone I hadn't done so for a few months, and had to do an update on the software before I could do so. Took longer than it should have, and had to reboot when done. Then I had to go through the whole back up/sync process again, very slow. Another reason why iTunes is shit.

Untitled Artist-Untitled Album. Over and over. Worked fine on my iRiver, but on my iPhone? Nope! It's fixed relatively easliy enough, but is very time consuming and a pain in the arse. Another reason why iTunes is shit.

You can put individual songs onto iTunes when importing them into iTunes you don't have to import the entire album if you don't want, you can also create playlist if you still want the availability of having the full album

I don't know if your talking about iTunes software or iPhone software. Downloading and installing the update timeframe has nothing to do with iTunes thats is controlled by your computer and internet.Sync time is also dependant on the amount of information that it has to back up, the longer its been since you have backed it up the longer it will take. I know back mine up every couple of weeks takes a lot less time and always has most of my important stuff backed up, especially now i'm using it for work it would be a pain if i didn't have some information backed up. Just remember that most of these updates have a security update to them which does keep your personal information protected. Yeh it is a hassle to have to do it but at the end of the day would you rather take an extra 5mins to do it or have your credit card information taken?

That's not really iTunes fault when downloading albums and sings and not having all the information there. I just buy albums off iTunes that way I always have them there for life and if i loose it i don't have to worry about finding it and downloading it again.

nope, i just don't see how you can call a program crap over 1 thing that what your doing with your current phone is pretty much the same. PAFC1870 came up with some good points but as I pointed the only one that comes close for iTunes being shit is either fixing bugs or security updates.

lol. You cant play any of those formats on your Iphone unless Itunes is used to convert them (which is more time and quite often fails). Dude, move on, were talking about phones, Ive had one of each, theyre not football teams you need to blindly support. Have a nice day. :)

I just bought the $49.95 samsung smart phone from Woolies 6 months ago.

The one that gets advertised in the Woolies Catalogue.

And take out the work supplied simcard in my very cheap work phone and put it into it.....

Everything fine. :D

Cheap alternative. :D

why do you have to use iTunes to play them? if they are already in that format or if you rip them to that format they will play on an iPhone. Do you seriously work in IT because after comments like that I highly doubt it.

You use Itunes to synch your PC with your Iphone, you don't use Itunes to play them, you use Itunes to convert them to the Iphone's format that it plays.
You've even repeated what I said using the term "rip" instead of "convert".
I never said anything about Itunes playing them, although it can but you wouldn't bother.

And yes, I'm a Test Automation Engineer, previously a System Tester and a Business Analyst before that. I've built PCs, had several phones, done a lot of programming, I even built this website and maintain it, so yes I've had a little to do with IT. Mind you its all pretty irrelevent when it comes to programs/phones we all like using as its just opinions and you need to get over that as little or noone agrees with yours.
Thanks for the discussion, I admire your passion in a piece of software. :)

sorry i made a mistake as you convert not play.

like I said you've given 1 crappy reason to why iTunes sux but you still have nothing else. how can you go that it six when what you are suggesting is better is the exactly same thing but with iTunes doing more for the user. If you seriously suggest what you are is a better option then that is the funniest thing i have ever heard.

you can connect to 1 computer with iTunes due to piracy laws, and that's with all devices that use iTunes. you can still charge and take off photos and movies to any computer.
