Remember that this a system that forced Bruggeman to make way for John Butcher for the Grand Final...

True. Really does show how fair dinkum the reserves sides are when you put it in those terms.

Which is why I wonder long term why any guy good enough to think about league footy would bother. Can see soon enough the top up players being guys who aren't even top class Amateur players. These sides will look good early on with 18+ AFL listed blokes but come July and August, with less than 10 at times, and some of those SANFL reserves quality and a bunch of fringe A grade local players there will be some ugly losses to match the dominant wins.

Or at the end of season when everyone comes back from injuries like the Cows Reserves last year.

Port had 7.

So if Crows have all players on their list OK to play, what happens to the skipper? Also what happens to the 45th & 46th player on their list, no game?

Chances are they aint much chop at that point so maybe they run the water.

Yeah the skipper would go back to him designated 'home' club.

Im sure if the Crows desperately needed the 45th and 46th player to get a game they would get their way and swindle a deal with a div1 ammo club or country club to have them play their for a week.

I doubt this problem would ever come up though.

46 on the list, 22 play AFL 21, play SANFL = 43

Sam Shaw is a test to play this week, apart from him they have Hampton & Hunter 2-3 weeks away.

Jaensch has quit so now have 45 on the list, if Shaw plays this week Carey doesn't play....if they get no injuries in the next few weeks they won;t be able to fit them all in!
