Same happened to us not long ago when we had more players drafted than any other in a ten year period. I'm just stoked that most of them are going interstate. Be terrible for us if they got drafted by the Crows or Port as we'd be playing against us. Terrible PR exercise by the Crows having South Australians hoping their players go interstate.

Cumming was a GWS academy kid so was always going to them. I do agree it's pretty bad when we are praying for our kids to get drafted interstate now

I think in the 2001 draft only 2 SA players were drafted. It was the year that Mark Jamar was expected to be drafted and only ended up being rookie listed. The two players drafted I think both came from the Eagles.

Yes both from the Eagles. Jarrad Wright to the Brisbane Lions at pick 35 and Brian Lake to the Western Bulldogs at pick 71. I've never heard of the first bloke but Lake had a great career.

Im not sure Wright even made his AFL debut, or if he did, only played a handful of games, and I reckon he returned to the SANFL and played for South.
