Re: Great Southern Football League
Some big wins helped by good conditions. Compass oval was excellent considering the rain we’ve had.

Re: Great Southern Football League
Rd 17
Myp/Sell should be too good for Strath by 57 points
McLaren will have a training run winning by 93 over GPE
Willunga host Victor in a clash that should decide the Minor Premiership. Willunga by 7 points
Bays host Compass with little resting on the result. Bays by 22 points
Creeks host Yank looking to reverse their 49 point loss to the Tigers in Rd 8. Last weeks form would suggest Yank to repeat the dose but Creeks have 4 very significant players returning from injury and if fully fit it may well be enough to get the win by 15 points

McLaren over goolwa by 120
Yank over Creek by 20
Bays over compass by 50
The game at willunga should be a cracker. Whoever wins takes top spot, if victor loses it could be in 3rd place tonight. Victor have had quite an unsettled side for weeks now but have been getting the job done against the lower ranked sides easily. Willunga have been dominant. In the first round it was Victor on top for 3/4 but left the door ajar with poor conversion and willunga ran all over them in the last. Willunga at home today I think.

Re: Great Southern Football League
Hi all, long time reader first time poster!
Looks like the final 5 are locked with no real surprises.
After watching some recent games I find it hard to see willunga being beaten come finals. Victor of course will be close.
Biggest disappointment for the season for me was Mt compass, after hearing of a "big" pre season, it was the same ones appearing
In the best, Simons, Nash, Vitkunas.
Schulz was a new name? Doesn't anyone know where he has come from or is he a local, looking at results he seems to be handy?
No ziggy seems to be hurting?

He came from Noarlunga Shoes. One of the best ruckmen in the southern league over the years.

Re: Great Southern Football League
Welcome! Yes Compass have done nothing this year really aside from beating Pongy in round 14, pretty similar to last year.BleweyT wrote:Hi all, long time reader first time poster!

It’s not easy to rise up the ladder. The depth of willunga and McLaren is hard to compete with consistently. Willunga have done so this year on the face of it (same wins as compass last year) but they really underperformed last year imo.

Re: Great Southern Football League
R18
Pretty much a non event round this is as Finals positions are locked in.
Only changes could be Victor / McLaren swapping 2nd/3rd and Compass / Creek swapping 6th/7th , neither which matters
GPE host Creeks. Creeks to win by 86 points
Strath host Willunga. Willunga will win by as much as they want to. With top spot wrapped up they may take their foot off the gas a bit ? Willunga by 91 points
McLaren host Bays. Both teams will be mindful of Finals next week being their priority so result could be anything. McLaren by 10 points only because they're at home
Yank host Compass. Both teams have showed Glimpses this season and would be disappointed not to be challenging for 5th spot at least.
Yank only kicked the 1 goal for the match in their Rd 9 clash with Compass which was a shock. Tipping Yank to get the win at home by 8 points.
Victor host Myp/Sell in another clash of finalists next week. Little to be gained here tho Victor being a genuine contender for the flag with the lure of a home GF should be more desperste to enter the finals with a win. Roos by 21 points.
Having said that Myp/Sel did win the GF from the Elim Final last year which is a very rare feat but it wont be happening this year tho.

Re: Great Southern Football League
All fair I think JJ
The Bays v McLaren depends on who takes the field. McLaren have been undermanned of late but still winning.
Bays could get it done.
Victor need to build some form. Hopefully they do.

Elimination Final
E Bay (4th) have clearly had a more consistent season than the reigning Premiers Myp/Sellicks (5th) and should be too strong by 32 points
Qualifying Final
Victor Harbor (2nd) will have the added pressure of the expectation they'll play in the GF to be played at Victor and also redeem themselves from last year GF loss by 1 point. on top of a 26 year premiership drought. McLaren (3rd) have been riddled with injuries but have still been getting the job done to finish top 3.
Without knowing how close to full, strength each team is i'll tip Victor by 9 points. Fair to say the loser will find it very tough to win the Premiership from the 1st Semi so there is a ot at stake.
In other news the Creeks will be appointing their 4th coach in 4 years after parting ways with Brock Gifford albeit in an amicable agreement which wasn't the case with Galbraith.last season. The Hawks should be returning to finals action next year with the expected return of a number of former Premiership players as well as a few new signings.

Very difficult to tip these with any confidence. Earlier clashes were close fought:
Rd 6 Bays by 11
Rd15 Pongy by 16
Rd4 VH by 20
Rd 13 McLaren by 9
Sooo. I’m going to go with Bays and VH too.

Re: Great Southern Football League
Yes it was. Bays looked good early but pongy ran out pretty comprehensive winners. Looking at the Bays line up they had a lot missing from their best team.goddy11 wrote:Good win by the Pongy boys.
Victor were too good for McLaren on Saturday at Yank. While the scoring shots make it look like it was a closer game it didn’t feel like that. Victor’s clean forward entries made for good conversion. The margin was 56 points with 5 minutes to go and McLaren then banged on 4 late.

Re: Great Southern Football League
2 games that are tough to pick this weekend
The Dees have done Victor both times this year and have to be favourites. If Victor can bring last week’s form then it should be a cracker. Money on Willunga, heart with Victor.
Pongy have found form at the right time and will take it up to McLaren. I think McLaren will bounce back though and take the win.
