Think R&C would struggle to deal with the jump from 4-2, going by the squad that played last season, I think grade 3 will prove to be a big enough challenge as it is, not to mention the rumored losses of some quality players i.e McCarthy, Bomber etc the depth will be tested.

Hopefully I get keen very soon..sals west are used of being fav so it's just another waste of 14 games for them ;)

I'm experiencing the opposite for a change, I've got itchy feet and am excited about round 1, I've been bowling well and know it's my only hope of playing A's, positions are going to be tough for a pleasant change and I want to be in the team for a role to play other than a captain.
Bring it on, there's a real buzz around the place atm, something that pre-season doesn't really have generally.

LM, i thought your bowling days were over....(bowling your left arm quick stuff that is). Is the body and injuries at a managable level to allow you to delve back into the old school days? Body's not getting any younger mate. If you are bowling your pace, which current PDCA player would you compare your speed to at this stage of proceedings?

Can anyone tell me if Daniel Jenner is still playing in the PDCA this season? Played against and with him back in District days and always rated him highly. Thanks.

I was umpiring 4 or 5 games of footy each week during the season so the body's in reasonable nick. I wouldn't know who I'd compare with mate, I never got to face me, hard to tell from my end.

The shoulder is feeling alright at the moment but couldnt get into the orthapedics until early November so playing it week by week at this stage. Have been seeing a physio who hires out swimming lanes at my work and is the physio for the CDFC so things are coming along alright.

I do know of a few names that have trained with us this year most of which people on here have already suggested but realisitically we are only looking at adding 3-4 blokes into the squad. What most people would be surprised with is that we only used about 14 blokes in the A Grade last year which is pretty thin and were lucky with injuries and availabilites. There wasnt a whole lot of competition for spots which is something we are hoping to change this year.

One name i can say now is ex Eastern Parker and Playford cricketer Matty Hunt will be playing with us this year, he cant commit to every game but is a top bloke and ultra reliable and will definatly add depth to the side and has taken wickets and hit runs at Grade 2 before. At very least he is the type of guy that we wont playing in our b grade rather than what happened last year.

Also rumour around the club is Kenny McConnell is going to have another crack at taking cricket serious and wants to play with cousin(?) franky.

Talking to a very good PDCA umpire a couple of weeks ago and it looks like PDCA will be down a couple of umpires this season.
From memory he said running Dave and Alf were most likely not going to umpire this season and wait for it Don Pearce may not be able to commit. I know that will put a smile on most pliers faces, hopefully he is right with the last one. :D
