We recruited 2 players. Spent points elsewhere. Now, months later, we have to find 2 more players to replace these loses.
Do you think that is fair on the club?
Imagine now if your coach decided he wanted to go back to his prev club. Would you be happy with that this time of year?
Plenty of other clubs have held players to their contracts in the past. We have been affected on this end too.
I'm sure this particular situation will work itself out though.
not saying your the bad guy but can't be good for the team to have players playing in the team that don't want to be there. I understand if you signed someone and they changed there mind you would not be happy, but when you start recruiting player's for good money then I think becomes a job to the players and when they get a better offer then they want to move on.
Money + Greed = No Loyalty!
The points system has not/will not worked because it has made the greedy blokes even more greedy and footy has/will suffer as a consequence.
Don't have the answer but that's my take on it.

No Rumour - FACT. Price tag to high. kind of puts a fizzer on the whole massive payment talk surrounding SN. you wouldnt think he would come back from country (an inferior Comp) and demand more than he was on before he left. Dissapointing as he is a handy player and champion bloke.

Re: SAAFL Division 1 2013
Hmmmmm.......maybe the whole not having to travel thing?
Maybe a return back to his former club with mates?????
I'm sure when most people return back from the country they do so for less money.
Don't think Salis Nth would've lost these players in the first place if they were paying them 500+per game.

good points right there BOP.. why would a blokes price tag go up for going away from Div 1 to an inferior comp for a couple of years?
No probs with the whole coin thing but surely you wouldnt think a couple of yrs in the country would make u a better player than if you stayed in a better comp..
maybe inflation?

Re: SAAFL Division 1 2013
Sorry boys think u misunderstood! Y would he come back for arguably 500 a game when he was on almost double that at moonta? Is only and hour and 20min drive from adelaide, not that far for a few hundred extra! And when he could get a similar (almost ridiculous amount for country footy) from Hamley bridge which is even closer to town, money definitely talks.

My taxi driver tells me he asked for 500/week and a 3000 sign on as seemed like the going rate! Salis nth must've spent most of their budget as they did chase him.

Could not have said it better.
Until the SACFL, SANFL & AFL get their collective heads out of their backsides they will never understand local grassroots football.
Waiting until February for a transfer is just plain dumb and stupid when you sign the player in August/ September. Of course they are likely to change their mind but if the transfer was completed back in October and contracts signed it would stop all the bullsh*t that goes on during the summer months and clubs would know where they are sitting in regards to the APPS.
Time to start the revolution!!!!!!!
Any chance Darren Leske from Freeling be playing at broadview this year TFE-here he is not happy at missing out on coaching job at Freeling
Saw Darren Friday night and asked if he was going around at Freeling again this year and he said yes. Having said that there did not seem like a great deal of conviction in his voice when he answered.

If you were on double that over the last couple years and were on around that before you left, you would expect to be offered around that again if the club was chasing you, completely different if you have approached the club wanting to come back.
In div 1 footy it is too strong a comp to say they will win the flag.
in recent years which teams have recruited heavily and bought themselves a flag.
