Is Chris Nichols still kicking around down there? Last i heard he was playing for a club on the border which was around a 4 hour drive for him every weekend for a game of footy!

Heard on the 5tcb yesterday that Keith without Modra kicked 19 goals in the last quarter to beat Border District 43 goals to 2-2. Can anyone verify this and is it any sort of record

Country Footy website has Keith 9.3 in 1st, 8.9 in 2nd,13.3 in 3rd and 12.9 in last for a final result of 42 goals 24 points to 2.2 . Snadjar 9, Smart 7,Smith 6 - so it looks like Modra didnt play. Would be interesting to hear what the record is in the KNTFL.

I heard that during the Penola v Padthaway game on July 5th that there was a Padthaway player king hit off the ball which resulted in the Padthaway player sustaining a badly broken jaw which required surgery. Believe this player wants to take the matter further too. Did anyone see or hear anything about this incident?

Any idea of the $$$ Modra got from his old club Renmark for his one off bout v Riccutio's Magpies?

By all reports it was a handy sum,but apparently he got a bus & filled it fullof grog for the Keith boys to go up & watch.
At least he gave something back to Keith & I am sure they would have put their share over the bar up there!!

Although not at the game, my mail is that apparently it was a blatantly deliberate hit, resulting in the player being knocked out and subsequently having surgery on a fractured cheek bone last week. I heard the umpire, alhtough not witnessing the incident, sent off the guilty player. No report was laid. Does anyone know if the KNTFL has launched an investigation into the incident? Or even aware of the incident? From all accounts it has been kept relatively quiet by both clubs involved.

Have spoken to a few people at the game including players from both sides and it was definitely not a king hit apparently retaliation and the player left the field by himself . It is long story but the padthaway fella that got belted had punched the penola guy in the back of the head first then got told if he did it again that was it so he did it again and copped one back. It must be also said that the padthaway player previously was trying to ruffle a few penola feathers by throwing elbows and punches before the incident. The padthaway coach was also overheard asking his player to play the ball and not the man, am pretty sure the padthaway fella that was belted was also involved in the incident where a 17 year old first gamer from Penola was KO'd

According to Keith sources you are quite right NM although they reckon the $ were paid by Waikerie - and well worthwhile considering there were more at Waikerie on Saturday than at Murray Bridge on Sunday - and Mods definitely forked out most of his fee for the Keith boys to make the trip.

Naracoorte have got Borders,Keith,Bordertown and Lucindale on the road home a good leadup for finals I would have thought. I still think Keith are the team to beat but Naracoorte will hopefully give them a good run in the decider
