Funny how no one has mentioned that the Centrals cheer squad ran about 80 metres to get involved
The incident was in the forward pocket, the "cheersquad" are directly behind the goals. It's a big ground, but...
And at the other end of the ground as we were kicking to the southern end at the time. The Port Cheer squad started on the grass behind the concousre but got down to the fence as fast as their moccies could carry them.
The port cheersquad were on the concourse from the start. If people ran down from the grass behind them they weren't a part of the cheersquad.

That is correct. I have been amazed by this thread, a lot of people have been offering opinions when they obviously have not seen the incident, nor really haven't seen it clearly enough. Also, club loyality has clouded the judement of a few. McCabe's actions were unnecessary and should not be accepted in our game as it has the potential to cause serious injury.
And I really hate these macho B/S comments about footy being a tough game. Nobody enjoys good honest physical contact in footy more than I do, but there is nothing tough about picking off an innocent by-stander at a bounce. Snipers aren't tough, they are cowards.

Dont know if they were end to enders or what they were, but there were quite a few doggies supporters behind the nothern goals, and about 25 or so of them ran over to the fence where the fight was. Thats a fact, but Im not saying anything happened or they did anything. I was standing just around from the Balfours and Coke vans in the south-eastern pocket. I spent most of the time trying to work out who the Port player that got injured was.
You cant compare someone being cleaned up when they take a mark to someone being cleaned up 10 metres off the ball.
Id like to actually find out what happened without all the anti-port bullshit being thrown around in this thread.
As I've stated, I wasn't there, but looking at the footage in the paper, it doesn't back up the argument that Port Cheer Squad members weren't involved. As to the degree of their involvment, that's inconclusive.

Pafc, it WAS the Port cheersquad. I was 30 metres away. The only people behind them were isolated family groups. Nice try to take the focus off your own supporters but may I suggest your blinkered vantage point from the opposite side of the ground is doing you no justice.
I'm sure the excuses are flowing thick and fast from Port's rabble. A disgraceful performance. Give Centrals some credit for diffusing what could have been a very ugly incident afterwards with two Board members and security ensuring Port's cheersquad was protected from a couple of irate Centrals fans (who should have known better anyway).

Obviously u were not there Borat, the players brawl happened dead in front of the Maggies cheer squad who were on the north west end of the ground they then surged forward to the fence and got involved !!!!!!!
The Central end to end supporters were on the southern side behind the goals and thank god they were cos then it could of really got ugly !!!!!!!!!

Their fans are an absolute disgrace, have a look at the sunday mail and tell me which clubs supporters were involved. As for the bump I dont know what game FA was watching yesterday if he thinks his team would never take a man down out of the contest. Only difference is the wharfies seemed to have the umpires on their side yesterday, but I guess maggots stick together.
Hard for us Port folk to argue with such an articulate and analytical post like that.

Well, you know what McCabe? You deserve every bit of that clothes-hanger, and then some. That "bump" today was one of the most cowardly yellow things I've ever seen on a football field.

You are a disgrace.
Dave Granger???????
Whats that got to do with anything? Why do people feel the need to bring up stuff that happened over 20 years ago as some sort of vengence for anything that happens in the future. Does it mean that the next time a North Adelaide player gets knocked out that they cant complain because of what Sims did in a grand final? Or Glenelg supporters cant complain again because of the dirty things Salisbury used to do? Centrals fans with the Gowans? Norwood with Mcintosh and Balme?
What has something a Port player did 25 years ago got to do with a Centrals player unfairly picking off a player at a bounce up? Sweet FA.

Hey Hey Hey Fatalberton do you actually know what happened did you really see it are you sure where it happened or who was fairly bumped. If anybody is gutless I`d say it is probably your inbreeding cheersquad.Where does it say that McCabe has been reported I aint heard shit. The ball was there McCabe only stopped Money bags from being the 3rd man up in the ruck whats wrong with that. There was no elbow just a good hard hit and Fatboy it happened on the hfflank grandstand side of the ground.I think more should be done about the feral magpie supporters trying to hit doggies players from behind, still I guess you are just copying what your players have done for years(Ex..Fiacchi on Arnold in one of the GF`s)

Oh you mean the same grand final where Abbot broke Darren Meads nose behind the play in the third quarter? The same hit that spurred us on to beat your sorry arses?
If you think the hit on Butcher was all fair play then fine. You and your other friends wont be whinging when McCabe leaves the ground on a stretcher in Round 19.

This is why it is imperative that the SANFL take action. They need to take this out of the players' hands and make it clear this sort of thing will not be tolerated. If they do nothing, then it flashes the green light for players to belt each other off the ball, and the next match between these two clubs could get very ugly indeed.
What another gutless hit from behind I suppose Macca which your supporters were trying to do.McCabe is a tough nut and Im sure he will be ready for anything from your mob.As a far as I`m concerned it was a fair bump not a Port Magpies elbow,I think some of you want the game umpired like the AFL.Some of your supporters should be banned from going for their cowardly part in the melee.McCabe should get off and Hawk I think you are over reacting mate go back and watch your mighty Hawks and your very disciplined captain in Vandenberg.
