What, no life guards saying one at a time.
Was this sit abandoned because they built the aquatic centre in North Adelaide or was it because they wanted the site for the festival centre.

Re: Old Adelaide
Amazing to think that when Adelaide's Luna Park was closed down, equipment went to Sydney to enable their LP to start up.

I would have done that jump a few times about then.
My first formal swimming lessons occurred there in a primary school group in about 1954.
IIRC correctly the place was getting a bit run down and in need of a lot of maintenance and it was decided to build the new pool instead, but alternative uses for the old site were possibly already in mind. I never did go to the new pool.
One of my memories of the old pool was meeting a well known 20-something stripper/dancer there when I was about 16, and applying her sun tan lotion.
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

Most of that got shipped off to the Sydney Luna Park. Apparently the roller coaster is still in use.

Seriously awesome thread to everyone that has contributed
It has given a mixture of goosebumps, emotion, nostalgia and memories of my childhood have been unlocked. The mind is a wonderful thing as you never really know what's locked away in there from the past.
Love the photos. Would love to see any if the following if anyone has any ;
Modbury skateline,
Paddys market,
valley line drive in,
magic mountain,
80s Hindley,
vultrex,
semaphore side shows,
mannum,
The Murray River,
80s royal show,
70s TTP,
late 80s Grand Prix

I watched the 89 race from that corner with my late Father. One of my favourite days in my childhood. I had Senna Sux on my legs in zinc cream.
