History would suggest it’s a fair chance.
He only showed interest in our gig once he lost the Crows job because of Covid.
He's certainly putting in a lot of hard yards on next year's playing list for someone who supposedly isn't going to be there.

The 'dogs lost to the top side away by 54 points, South lost to North at home by 58 points and Adelaide lost to WWT at Woodville by 65 points. The top 3 sides certainly look a class above the rest. And our ('dogs) loss doesn't look as bad today as it did yesterday.

Glenelg never really got out of second gear yesterday, not being arrogant, just realistic.
We stood behind the Centrals bench yesterday, so many kids playing for them.

Plus Partington went off injured in the 2nd qtr.
Another disappointing day for the Central district football club.
Thrashed in all grades again.

we've got this one done and dusted, probably by around 5 goals.
Pity I won't witness it, I'll be 10 kms off Point Turton in Kevin Sweeney's Reel Screamers boat, pulling in thumping big Whiting.
And we bagged out in 75 minutes, 6 people, 60 whiting, fantastic!

Teacher and solid mentor. And they see value in him. Heard this at an Adelaide Tools business convention. I'll let you work out who is tied up with Adelaide tools.
I'd have thought Mattner was higher on the Crows list. Like Thomas, an ex Crows assistant coach, 200+ AFL games, AFL premiership player, SANFL premiership player, 2 x SANFL premiership coach and looks to be doing a pretty good job coaching Sturt this year.

Re: R17 Glenelg v Centrals Saturday 2.10
My concern with Thommo is that we've spent a whole year with an undersized team, losing a high percentage of the marking contests, and yet we still kick to those contests going forward. It seems like we should have developed a game plan to suit the cattle we have, maybe a more uncontested possession focus lke Hawthorn of a few years ago. Most of our lightweight youngsters can run all day.
You don't have much choice on the turnover, the opposition's attack will still go high to exploit our size, but we do have some good spoilers in defence that often equal the contest despite being undersized (dealing with Bean in general and Frampton on his golden day at Elizabeth the exceptions this year). But with the ball in hand, we just keep sending it toward contests where we are outgunned.
I can't question the player's effort this year, it's what keeps me turning up, but I just get the feeling it could be directed better.

Off course he is, he loves the club his not going to put tools down but his also a career football man which is fine and he has displayed that before eg he wasn't interested in our job when he had one with the AFL big boys.
I wish him the best of luck but I don't think his this messiah coming back to rescue us like others would make him out to be.
