I think its been mentioned on here before. Corona is way ahead of all other transmissible diseases. Just imagine the numbers if the world didn't do anything to prevent this pandemic.

Majority of us would have all been infected by now and back to living a normal life probably??
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep

While it’s impossible to know the true death toll of COVID-19, it is clear that in some countries daily deaths have reached rates 50% or higher than the historical average for periods of time:

Time, and further analysis, will be required to determine a more accurate COVID-19 death count

So they surmise they have no idea

Correct after all this is over hopefully the experts will collate all the facts and advise how many people really did die from the Rona.

Yep, and 1% of us - in Australia that would be 250,000 - would be dead.

And that figure is conservative given the health system would be overwhelmed.

Yes that is a lot of very old people unfortunately, however, we'd be getting back to leading a normal life by now.

How many of those old people would have died naturally in that period anyway?

You tell me - and I'm not necessarily arguing either way about the policies that have been adopted - I just think it needs to be made clear that there would be mass deaths in Australia and a significant burden on the health system if we'd done nothing.

And not all deaths have been old or even sick people.

Majority have though. I'm not getting into an argument about it. You know my thoughts and I know others. I'm sure we can all agree we're absolutely over it all though

Is it also correct that 75% of those people who have unfortunately lost their lives also had underlying health issues?

Quick google search:

Current annual death rate in Australia = about 160,000 / year.

Current mortality rate of COVID in Australia is 1.9% of known infected cases die.

Current population of Australia is 24.99 million.

If we let it run free and 'let everyone get it'.... at the current mortality rate we would lose (maybe) 475,000 people (assuming, as people seem to wish that we allow everyone to get it quickly ie within a year so that we can get on with things).

Take away the current annual 'usual' death rate of 160k and we would be hitting a mark of an extra 300k deaths in a year.

In Victoria, the mortality rate is currently 2.1%. Who knows what it would be like if the every hospital across Australia where overflowing for many months on end? Worse maybe? unlikely better though.

That seems like a lot of potential people dying ahead of their to me.

Interesting i picked this out of it

“Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have chosen to hold this vital assistance hostage on behalf of very extreme, partisan demands from the radical left Democrats, and we just can’t do that,” the President said.

This RONA has become a political football in the USA and i think also here in Oz.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nc ... in-us.html

74,830,464 Rona tests in USA
6,633,163 Positive Tests 9%
174,000 Deaths 2.5 % approx

I also have read that co morbidies suicides road fatalities etc etc etc have been counted as Rona deaths also that a lot of hospitals get subsidies from the Gov re Rona deaths.

So when this is all over there should be lots of questions asked to what the real number of deaths/medical issues are from the Rona.
