Re: Adelaide Suburban Cricket Assosciation.
Can someone please explain to me on how Tucky is picked in the Association side.
Please tell me, he is the coach and is not playing.
Is the side picked on form or reputataion, One player in that side hasn't made a run in section 1 yet.

Re: Adelaide Suburban Cricket Assosciation.
It ain't picked on form, I guarantee that. Check the player stats so far this season, some names at the top of that not considered.
I assume they base it on consistent performers over the years. Same thing happens in footy. Guess they like to play it safe rather than reward blokes they're not sure about.

Kevin Joseph picks the side, Tucky looks after the 21s, i asked him about the selection process of the senior side and he wasnt sure because they dont train. He was probably picked as 12th man just in case somebody withraws before the game

Attached is spreadsheet with Association player stats for this season. Some good numbers in there for most, but a few seem a strange selection. There have been better performers out there

He was named 12th man and without a doubt he will play as there is a super sub in these games. Why not a player that is deservant good player no doubt yet says that he cant keep up he plays association every year and from section 3 too.

Re: Adelaide Suburban Cricket Assosciation.
I have never had the honour of playing assosciation cricket, and now never will. One thing the assosciation should do is pick the best team, and then 'persuade' them to play.Too often people who are in the right spot at the right time get a chance to represent us all,not all the time deserved of it.
Not having had the honour,I may view it differently to others, this is just my opinion.

Re: Adelaide Suburban Cricket Assosciation.
Shake, so you know for a fact that Tucky wants to play these games, he is going to be at our ground for the 21s as we have 2 ovals, i asked him on saturday night why members of our cricket club havent been approched to play because we had 3 blokes who took 20+ wickets last year and have had a good start to this year, and a couple of run scorers as well, he couldnt give me a answer and agreed with what i said. I bet every club has a couple of players in the same position, dont get on Tuckys back, look at the association and the way they are running it.
I agree with you Booney it would be an honour to play for our association, but my guess not many players know about until the last minute.

I would ask questions of the association side picked for under 21's. A guy that made 276 in section 5 gets picked. Would that be on that one innings? I watched him bat at the training on Monday and he was in massive trouble against bowlers that didn't make the team. I would think that the senior team looks pretty good. most guys have performed this year or in association matches last season. 10 of the 12 players are section one players. Hopefully we go well in seniors and 21's!!! Particularly in 21's where Adelaide Turf have beaten our guys by 1 wicket the last 2 years.

Re: Adelaide Suburban Cricket Assosciation.
My view is that any representative side in any sport should be picked on form, but even more so in cricket. There is no point selecting a great batsman when he’s out of form. He’s unlikely to regain the form in an Association game where the standard is higher. Also, if you don’t select guys on form it is very difficult to break into the side. The players in the lineup I would question (based purely on current season form and the section they play in) are Heath Mackay, Andrew Murphy, David Sampson and Colin Tuckwell (not sure about Michael Ledgard – does he bat or bowl?).
There are great players there, but don’t see the point in playing them if they’re not in form. Regardless of that, it’s a big commitment to play cricket on a Sunday following your club cricket the day before, so good on them for putting their hands up.

Michael Ledgard was a batsman/wicket keeper last season in B & C grade for Southern District.

Funny then that he's made no runs but taken 3 wickets very cheaply.
Has anyone heard anything about several A grade players walking out on Morphy Parks. Was told at training last night. Believe the Thomas boys are involved. I know they are 'hot heads' but seems a bit much for several players to leave.

steven, michael and luke hibberd(captain) all quit the club due to personal reason to do with a player at club. would not be surprised if crane joins them after this game. mpcc in shambles at the min. coach also quit last week! mpcc will not play finals now

Dutchy - Dont let the facts get in the way of a good story. A glassing it wasn't, and for the record, the Thomas boys weren't even there. Keep an eye on the MPCC team sheets - you might find some or all of the names mentioned appear again before you know it.
For what its worth - David Lee is still coach.
A bust up between two players it was. a club breaker its not.

Meanwhile, on the field, North Haven beat Coro. Ramblers 9/145 to 10/103 or something.
