But on the flipside, I respect Henley and AU for then having a crack at playing in Div 6.

I'm not talking about a super C grade either Marbles, i'm talking about putting them back into C divisions with promotion/relegation.
Means a club may have it's c grade in C1 and it's D grade in C4 (or lower), but geez better than disrupting an A grade comp, and having such uncertainty each season. I'm sure clubs could still arrange to have the sides play back to back - look at Modbury in C4 for instance!
Absolutely....Difficult decisions have to be made no matter how unpalatable they may seem.
Consideration should be that any Club registered to the SAAFL must be able to field at a minimum and A & B grade side and compete as such within the respective divisions....full stop.
If during the course of the season a Club forfeits its A or B for whatever reason...that's it season over. Reapply next season for entry into a Division at the discretion of the League. Teams that extend to additional teams ie C's, D's, etc etc ........compete at a level commensurate to those grades and again you forfeit.....season over.
The onus then falls on the Clubs to ensure they get players willing to commit to play for that Club for that season before declaring the number of teams it intends to field. Losing their subs (if paid) and not getting a game for the remainder of a season might be motivation enough to rock up on a Saturday to play than find an excuse not to.
That might save some of the uncertainty from week to week as far as knowing if sides will be forfeiting.

Re: SAAFL Division 7 2014
a strict requirements policy yes, must have 2 teams or get the boot yes
but dumping all the div 7 & div 8 c/d grade combinations, splitting them up into c1, c2, c3, c4 & c5 - No
that is an unfair punishment on the 14 or so clubs who continue to successfully run 4 teams without a hitch and are working tirelessly to keep things running well
if the shocs boys are told next year we're only playing cgrade club s a surplus will return in the same way it has for TTG
i bet the smosh boys are loving the fact they get to have a crack at us henley, uni, shocs, modburys in the higher cgrade standard, but probably look upon playing these div 7 agraders with regret
before splitting all our Cs from our Ds, get us away from these agrade clubs please - cos we'll bring ya higher participation rates, and its none of our business or in none of our interests where u dump your excess agrade clubs

On the other hand, I couldn't give a stuff what you want for your D grade, whatever is best for the majority of clubs that have A, B, and C grades. Just saying.....

theres what 60 clubs in the league? about 15 of those have dgrades?
25% of the competition would give a stuff champ.

Re: SAAFL Division 7 2014
next year div 7 will be dead imo
mitchell park
angle vale
north pines
adelaide uni
henley if they have to
smosh will want out
shocs will want out
flinders park will want out
wingfield will want out
houghton who knows
plus div 6 is facing an 8 teams only comp, 3 vacancies but only smithfield will come up
then theres the kilburn drama, will they form 2 div 4 sides, else 3 sides from div have to go up

No one gives a rats....
But why would smosh, shoc, flinders pk want out its not like theyre coming up against any real competition, wingy's will be lucky to field a team and Houghton will play whoever theyre put up against!

You would see the most brutal grand finals the league has ever seen if that happened...

Aren't grand finals supposed to be hard, tough, uncompromising and brutal affairs............or are we talking about bloodlust and life bans in the quest for a flag.

From experience Prelims are far more intense than GF's. Think many freak them selves out before the big game.

Well that might be the difference between winning and losing.....freaked or not it what happens on the field is what counts on the day.....

Re: SAAFL Division 7 2014
Marbles its not the fact we are playing A grade teams that's the problem. The problem is that players that don't get picked for the B grade don't want to play div 7 footy. Its a problem only the club can fix it wont happen overnight might not happen this year but some of these guys up the higher grades have to realise that if they want to play in the Bs they have to play well in the Cs .
And why would you want to play in a lower grade dosent make sense to me we are good enough to play at this level we have proved it in the past the fact we got pumped on Saturday against a team that we all know has stacks of talent doesn't mean we are not good enough. Also we have played nearly 45-50 blokes through the C grade already this year so our side is never settled its not an excuse its just what happens we pick ourselves up after the bye and have another crack in the second half of the year

Re: SAAFL Division 7 2014
in house mate im all for giving it all we got, for sure, your spot on and we'll certainly be up and about when it matters
my focus on the new structure is for all cgraders in every team at every club cos its social footy down here for us. what have our thirds got to prove when we know we're sh*thouse in divvy 6
meanwhile we couldnt careless about houghtons, or smithfields or ingle farms missions to rise up the divisions and as a social footballers do we really have to sacrifice our saturdays of recreation so these semi-professional players can win a key to division 6?
bring on the CHANNEL 9 C-GRADE SUPER LEAGUE...
Adelaide Uni
Henley
Modbury
Smosh West Lakes
TTG
SHOCS
PAOC
Flinders Parks
Old Ignations
What a sensational and enjoyable challenging season it would be just playing us against us
and if thats not appealing enough to attact 25% more players for a recreational day out, then fine, lets instead continue to watch clubs shrink in div 6 and 7
