Adelaide Oval might help but I reckon both would suffer significant drops in attendance. Port don't cope with failure (never had to just had a peek under Primus and that was enough) and the Crows I think have a very soft underbelly I can't see a lot of them sticking it out through thin and thin they just don't strike me as a rusted on supporter group by any means.
Home crowd never dropped below average of 35k even during lean years. Evenavg near 40k during the Robert Shaw years! I think they've proven to be good attendees regardless of how the season is going. Obviously has some variances with form.
Staying to the end of a game when losing is a different story!
Looked like 15k left at 3/4 time....... on TV.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.
MW wrote:Yep some did leave before the end of the game. I forgot its a Crows only phenomenon.
Some? I think you mean most! Of course it happens at most games but as a footy supporter who attends both crows and Power games here it is more evident at Crows games IMO

How does this differ to any club in any competition?
It doesn't in a fundamental sense, but there are degrees to how much a lack of success affects a supporter base and some clubs supporters are more rusted on than others. Richmond, for all their shite, still largely turn up, and we're talking over 30 years where they have hardly had any finals success. I don't know how that would go here but it's all hypothetical I acknowledge. Let's hope it stays hypothetical. If your a Port supporter what have you really had to deal with in your lifetime? A Premiership drought in the SANFL glory years of about 12 years while Sturt and North won Grand Finals, and the brief Matty Primus period in the AFL? It's like following around the school bully of course Port have an army of supporters !

Ditto unless the game is in the balance.
All you morally superior supporters can have your traffic jams.
What's wrong with drinking beer in the Magarey room after each game? Or do you blokes have to rush home to your missus? Or boyfriend if that is what you prefer.

Traffic jams. You have to be kidding. Getting in and out of the city is hardly a hassell. Its not West Lakes when you really needed to get the hell out of there and fast otherwise you wont get out of the car park.
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

Each to their own and each should not be judged by the other.

It was a question? Hence the ?
The way I avoid the crowd and traffic jam is to head to the Margarey room for a beer.
But if people prefer to leave early......... that's fine but cop the criticism that goes with it

Even in the 12 year hiatus between premierships between 1965 and 1977 Port gave their supporters plenty to cheer about during the season. They finished second 6 times, third, 3 times, fifth once and sixth once. Sure they didn't achieve the ultimate and thus were deemed to be failures but in actual fact they over achieved for much of that period. I don't believe any other club could have challenged in many of those years given the squad Port had at that time.

I work their doofus, we're not allowed to watch the games when we finish so I head straight to my local pub for a few deserved beers!
PS I didn't leave the MCG early on Easter Monday. PPS If anyone's bored come to the Sussex tonight or tomorrow night, it's so boring ATM.

Breaks my heart a little bit that - I've got two girls who love going to the Dogs games and that piece feels a little too close to home. I wonder if this is Andrew's personal story.
Totally understand you sentiment, similar with my kids.
