I can see lots of broken legs happening soon.

Dustin Fletcher would of played 500 if the same leniency to tripping was offered back then[emoji1]

Still think it was an involuntary action

LOL

Wasn't a deliberate act but as I said at the time I thought he would/should miss a game for it

Who has a reflex to kick out at a player like that? It's unfathomable that anyone could even suggest it wasn't deliberate.

Now I don't personally think there was intent to hurt and it was no doubt a spur of the moment decision. He was just so desperate and so badly beaten that the only way to slow Thomas down was the stick the leg out. That's still deliberate and dangerous and needs to be met with a virtually automatic suspension IMHO.

Even though the final outcome benefits my own side, it's something that can never be allowed to creep into the game.

IMO it's the change of direction that throws the leg out. He is not deliberately trying to kick him

You cant be fn serious. Go outside, run in a straight line and then change direction. Do it 100 times, i bet not once do you throw your leg out to do it

Then why do we see this type of trip 5-6 times a year in identical fashion?

I reckon in the split second he's just trying to get any part of his body in the way of the player that's getting past him, so don't think there's an intention to hurt. But it's blatant tripping and he's a very lucky boy

Probably no intent to hurt. Absolutely intent to stop. Throwing a leg to stop an opponent is dangerous territory in my view. The bloke is lucky, play on.

Anybody interested in a precendent this Season ?? Round 2 Adel Oval Crows vs Power.. 1st Quarter, about 1.45 remaining... C.Dixon going one way & B. Smith going other way with the ball. C. Dixon throughs leg out and connects. No report.

And Nat Fyfes trip on Koby Stevens last year IIRC... identical issue. No report.

Precedent counts for nothing with the MRP. Hasn't for years, it's pointless us trying to compare incidents when the MRP doesn't.

Hartigan was never getting weeks. Adelaide fans would have booked a stopover in Melbourne en route to Sydney with sticks of Dynamite.

Nah mate AFL house dont listen to 5AA so they wont be worried about the vengeful Adelaide fans.

Be interesting to go through the threads & look at any comments about those 2 incidents or is it just because he's a crows player there is an uproar

Nat Fyfes was as he was slipping and clumsy, Hartigans was slightly worse as he was on his feet and meant it but having said that I just watched a couple of replays and Hartigans wasn't as severe as I thought, it looked much worse in the pub when I was smashed! I'd give him the benefit of the doubt in hindsight as there wasn't much momentum if any behind it, too much doubt for it to cost a finals game. I'll admit my initial reactions/view on that one was wrong.Dixon's I can't find on YouTube. Stevie J the unlucky bloke of the weekend, too much doubt in my eyes.
