Would you think any other sanfl side wouldn't want him in their team? Not that it was an option or not. Yes, no afl team was keen to give him more than a rookie spot but at sanfl level he is a fair player!

But not as easy as making unsubstantiated claims from behind your keyboard.
I'm not a fan of Sturt or the crows but I think he's a very good get for them and I'd rather play against a Sturt team without Tambling.
Sorry, I'll clarify my stance.
BP said it was a "Good get for Sturt"......they already had him, and it seems nobody else wanted him enough to lure him away from Unley.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.
If you want to go far, go together.

Ok. True, but I think it wasn't a slam dunk...maybe we got him a job? Not sure but either way, glad he has committed.

Fair enough. Sturt were always in the prime position to secure his services. He just seems to be the sort of guy that immediately attracts criticism and not always justified. At SANFL he is definitely a decent footballer and from the couple times I've heard him speak I think he'd offer good leadership to the younger guys.
Anyway, I'm more interested in the supposedly imminent announcement (late this afternoon) on the NAFC website about new recruits. Given the number of players lost the recruiters do have their work cut out for them.

Has Tambling officially been announced as a Sturt player, I believe West are / were in the mix here big time.

That is the first I have heard of another sanfl club showing interest and by the sounds of it getting close? What made west ppl think he was considering a move?

Thanks for adding something so irrelevant.

Re: Rumours and Player Movement Discussions for 2014
I believe Tamblings in laws are heavily connected with West hence the interest was shown both ways.
Say what you like about him but he is a terrific player at SANFL level and will be a good fit in any team.

Re: Rumours and Player Movement Discussions for 2014
NAFC ins according to NAFC website:
The North Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce the following signings for season 2014.
Alan Obst – 26 years old, 194cm & 96kg key forward from Central District.
Alan spent time in the AFL system with Adelaide (rookie) in 2006, played in the 2007 premiership for Central District and was then a rookie selection with the Kangaroos in the AFL (2008 & 2009) where he played 5 AFL games. Alan will provide a strong contest, leadership and a high work rate.
Luke Mitchell – 21 years old, 196cm & 95kg key forward from Carlton.
Luke joins the Roosters after 3 years on the Carlton list. A very talented junior in the Victorian TAC Cup program with the Calder Cannons, Luke was drafted in 2010 with pick 42. He played 1 AFL game in 2012 and is a key forward that presents well and has a good awareness around goals.
Rhys O’Keefe – 23 years old, 188cm & 86kg midfielder returning from Carlton.
Rhys is returning to North Adelaide after 5 seasons with Carlton. Rhys was pick 65 in the 2008 draft after an impressive State Under 18 championship where he was awarded the MVP as best player for South Australia and he was also named in the All Australian side. Rhys is a solidly built inside midfielder who can also play across half back. He is strong in the contest, has a penetrating left foot kick and has good aerial skills.
Jesse O’Brien – 22 years old, 185cm & 82kg midfielder returning from Brisbane.
Jesse returns to Prospect after 4 years with the Brisbane Lions. Jesse played 17 AFL games after being selected with pick 73 in the national draft. Jesse is a versatile midfielder who can play inside the centre square or on the wing and across half forward. He has speed, good game awareness and a high skill level.
We welcome all 4 players to the North Adelaide Football Club for season 2014.

Re: Rumours and Player Movement Discussions for 2014
A couple of very good pick ups for the Roosters, there...
Obst is a risk, both physically and mentally, but if he can stay sound in these areas, he could be pretty handy in attack for North...

Very good player
Don't really like how he alludes to the fact that he signed with Collingwood VFL because he was very keen to play 'under the nose of a professional AFL organisation' on a weekly basis. I wonder how many other players take this attitude and don't sign with stand-alone clubs for this very reason.
