Very lucky, that looked out. Think even Marnus thought he was in trouble after seeing he missed the ball. Agree it was a terrible shot just before lunch.

Watching live the line looked good but my immediate thought was height ? Not a shocker to give it out but not surprised ball tracking showed it going over.
Anyone thats played a lot of cricket would be able to remember heaps of times a batsman has missed it and you think thats all over only to see the ball go over the top and you think "How the F**K did that happen?". It did because it does regularly.

He had made 30 out of 35 at the time.
Burns didn't look like making a run and it's an utter disgrace that he continues to get picked.
Marnus hadn't looked like scoring
An hour had gone and 5 runs had come from the other end
So we're all happy for Wade to take no risks and Aust go to lunch at 1/20 off 28 overs?
The key to Australias success over the last 3 decades is that they dont take a backward step and have the courage to attack when under pressure.
One false shot and you want to hang a bloke?

Agree

I think pre drs we grossly underestimated the amount height a ball gains from pad to stumps.

I think it’s us that has to readjust our older beliefs of the heights.

Also didn't the cheating flog Warner get picked for Test cricket off the back of T20 and ODI performances ?

Time and place for risks

Already scored a boundary
Had just lost a wicket
First hour of a test
Pitch that’s only going to get better
Leading the series one nil

You live and die play shots like that and Wade looks the fool, he was the one batsmen that looked comfortable and he threw it away. Looking forward to Warner and co coming back so Burns and Wade can back to their wholes.

He put added pressure on his middle order. No chance Langer and co are happy with that innings.

Nah he had been hitting runs in the shield as well prior to his selection

That’s always been Head’s downfall though, gets out straight after a break. Hopefully he can rectify that today!

It's the fact that it was a dumb shot, not a false shot, that is unforgivable.

As Whuffer said, his stupidity placed unnecessary pressure on the middle order.

Yeah absolutely

If can make a real proper grinding score against a very good bowling attack I reckon it will set him up for a massive career.

Yep an opener should never ever ever throw their wicket away in the first hour of a test.
