There’s also other variables which free kick no’s don’t reflect, ie advantage rule payed resulting in goals then a different umpire doesn’t pay it down the other end, costing the other team goals...
It’s amazing when you are first to the pill, and tackle correctly the frees tend to go your way. I’d prefer to see the stats around that.
Thats why a free kick count stat on its own shits me. To give it context you need first to the ball stats and ineffective tackles.

I don't think they influence the outcome but they can certainly influence the momentum of the game.
Only the West Coast vs Sydney season opener I have thought that they killed the Eagles' chances, apart from that they've been generally consistent I guess, even if I don't agree with the rules or decision.
I agree insofar as the actual decisions they make, but the way they are told to adjudicate can have a massive bearing on the game - not so much the result but the way the game is played

That's what occurred in the match I was referring to, my opinion may differ to others though, I'm sure wubsy thought otherwise.
I am positive that is what happened. West Coast clawed their way back into it and looked set to over run Sydney and a few calls went against WC and it let Sydney gain control again.

Yep, every time they got within a sniff there was a stupid call that turned into a two goal play, they had all of the momentum.
But after that game we have a very tough run home.... Eagles (SCG) Tigers (ES) Cats (SCG) North (ES) Suns (SCG) Bombers (ES) Pies (SCG) Dees (MCG) Giants (Spotless) Hawks (SCG)
So with the exception of the Suns, the rest are pretty tough... Should be interesting to see how we end up...

If someone gave me $50 to place on who I think will win the GF I'd place it on Sydney for some strange reason, just seem to bopping along dropping the occasional game they shouldn't, they'll be primed for the pointy end no doubt along with wealth of finals experience.
they get games into their kids, which is excellent coaching. may mean they are only 85% for most of the season but it also means they are primed at the pointy end, as LM has said

Bit like Geelong I reckon. They'll be up there too
