Re: Hills Football League
there are some great signings for Hahndorf.
Nicholas can ruck and will dominate in the league. Counter that with cooper, kaesler, stansborough, stephens and gags. Hahndorf will be a force. Can see them matching it in the top 5 if not top 3.
Could question their forward line though. They tend to rely on their midfielders or small half forwards to kick goals.
Any word on a lobethal coach??
What about the recruits from uri's last year. Any word if the MCleans, ebert, ebel, staples and a few other will be sticking around?

I very seriously doubt that Ross Wait has followed Grainger to westies. The others, well especially Trigger, wouldn't suprise me. I guess the following weeks will tell.

Re: Hills Football League
Played against Nicholas and Kaesler last year and both will be very very handy pick-ups if true. Look out for Hahndy in 08 and no doubt Silky will be back on the bandwagon.
Good luck to all the Lofty lads going down to Richmond Oval. Looking forward to playing you guys.

Re: Hills Football League
Wait definitely at Westies- and add Racer Mehta to that list as well DA sorry forgot him last post. I agree with Bookie that Lofty will be strong again- maybe not dominant but then again Lofty were a powerful side last year without gordon and wait for most of it, plus trav white only really performing at his best 4 or 5 times. Next season will be a huge year for buckets Nielson, Shane Maslin, Brett Pistola, Marcus Jones, Dan Agars and Weeksy (plus many other young locals), hopefully they can step up.

Re: Hills Football League
Some big losses for Lofty but not a bad thing for that club. Those players were always going to move on eventually and good chance to play some of the youngsters. Save a fortune too!
Look forward to the IB v Lofty encounters. Will be just like senior colts action from the last 4 yrs again by sounds of things!! Should be some ripper games full of lots of young talent. Good for the HFL

Re: Hills Football League
Yeah, while they are all big losses to the Devils, those blokes all helped bring the locals up to the standard required. I have no doubt the younger lads you've mentioned will grab their chance and continue the winning ways.
Agree too Mop Up, there will be some cracking encounters to look forward to in the next few years!

Re: Hills Football League
Very good recruits for Hahndorf next year- great for the competition. Rooster to say that Nicholas was one of the best ruckmen in the SANFL is a rediculous statement. I'm a redlegs supporter and I saw him getting stitched up by opposition ruckmen on numerous occasions. I still think he will be close to the best ruckman in the Hills because at the moment there aren't that many dominant big men going around. Bawden was a standout, Cox is pretty good and after that it drops off.

Did play against nicholas and kaesler last year, kaesler luvs a bitta banter on the field and im sure cud get up a few blokes noses, nicholas will jump all over ne other ruckmen in the hills, becoz if ur beating angas kurtze at jumping in a contest u will jump over everyone else!!!

That does not sound good Statsman were the abusers brave enough to take on Committee roles or are they now without a viable committee. If so it could be many long cold years in the valley.
That sort of thing with strong competition around from the Brookers, Birdwood and TV could push the team towards oblivion, and that with the best facilities in the Hills.

Re: Hills Football League
Add Wagnitz and Gallagher to that list silky, and yes that is as good a group of 7 players as any HFL side, but how strong will the other 14 players be though? Knowing Gary Carlson, those other players will be better than last year but then again they were pretty crap last year.

They've got some decent contributors to back up those imports:
Tim Larkin
Chris Trapp
Tim Parham
Is the ruckman Roberts still there?
But you're right, it probably even goes as far as how strong a clubs top 5 or so B graders are for the middle of the season when injuries hit.

Re: Hills Football League
Statsman, from what I know you are on the commitee at Loby...how can you sit back and say you could be in for a few lean years at Loby? It only takes one motivated bloke at a club to turn things around completley...there's been a good example in the central division of late. Someone's gonna have make a stand at Tigerland and bring the club back where it ought to be.
Positive talk coming from Devil land about the new coach. The devs may lose three or four tops, but i'm sure they'll gain a couple + with the young blokes coming through, they'll be top 3 material no doubt.

Re: Hills Football League
Dashin,i am not on the committee at lobey and never have been, yes some hard working people can change things around but things have started to snow ball there. Last years bad results on field certainly didnt help and u can ask the lofty guys how many lobey people were at the game when they played at lobey late last season,u could count the supporters in the club on one hand.Of course we dont want to see things like this happen but unless alot of people stand up it will be a struggle.last season everything on game day was left to a few,an example is a guy like Andy Huxter who was team manager for the 'A's' and then would either have to time keep, goal umpire or boundary umpire cos noone else would do it. unless some clever recruiting is done they will struggle on field and as we know it is then harder to get supporters along, then it is harder to attract sponsors if they cant see they will get the value. Alaska ,the main abuser is now the president as from what i heard after his tirade he nominated but no-one stood against him, rumour also has it that there were only 2 applicants for the coaches job and one of them pulled out of the running. there are alot of good people at the club and for their sake im hoping things do go alot better than how it appears it will go

Re: Hills Football League
hanhdorf ruckman roberts is at wwtfc training at the moment, and he didn't play with the maggies last year.
I also agree that nicholas was never a good ruckman in the sanfl. Couldn't win a tap if his life depended on it against the likes of ohara, lindsey, scouler etc.
But also agree that he will dominate int he hills. If bawden plays next year, nicolas will struggle, but there is no one else, cox is terrible, but is servicable due to the apparent lack of talent with ruckmen of the last few years
