Never said anything about fights brewing either.
Why though is your best so called player getting $50 & Rugolo was getting $500?
Money must of been a big deal to him or he would of been getting $50.
I know theres ALOT more in that boat aswell.

Combuster you think you know a bit down their at Henley can you tell us why Jamie Cammerano & Daniel Proud got dropped for the Grand Final & why they then didn't play in the B gade Grand Final.
They wern't injured i know that.

I can tell you that Jaimie was shattered at being dropped, but didn't want to take away the place of a B grader in the GF, pretty honourable thing to do. as for Proud, not sure if it was the same reason.

i spoke to Proudy at the Div 7 Prelim and he went to Henley because ' he wasn't getting the opportunity' at his SANFL club... after playing all bar a couple games through the year to get dropped for the GF would be a hard pill to swallow... quality young player may end up somewhere else...
I am not talking to you for 3 minutes because you punched me in the head and it hurt and that was not okay for you to do

Jamie didn't play because he didn't want to take the place of a B grader. Proud did play in the bgrade gf so I think your a bit mixed up buddy. As for the above post about proudy playing all games bar a couple, that's wrong. He had an injury plagued year and only played about 8 a grade games. Hally felt it wasnt the best thing to play him in the gf over people who had played all year and just missed the lead up games to the gf.

To the bloke who said Rugolo was on $500. Wrong buddy.

guess hally made the right decision in the end then to play people who lost a bit of match fitness who didnt play the games in the lead up to the GF rather than the players who did huh???

How naive are you to think that a team can do well consistently without recruiting? Look at goodwood. Demasi, Webb, Bartel, Illman etc. They are on big money. Look at TTG. Wicks, Culpitt, Pollock, Pitt, Brunoli. Henley have players who are also on good money. Any team that wants to do well has to pay good players, simple as that. What you don't know is that players such as McDonnell, Pavlich, Williamson, Mehaffey, Pastyn, Berry, Thompson are all juniors of the club and don't care about money. Rugolo is getting A LOT less that $500. Cullen was playing on $150 last year. Pederson the same, Turner the same. That's the money most players are on down there. Colville may have got $300, Stewart may have got $300. That's nothing compared to the amount blokes are getting paid at Gepps Cross, Sals, Goodwood.

Every successful club has to pay money. Saying you have to "buy" the flag is just a stupid comment. There is money in the amatuer league everyone knows that. Sacred Heart don't pay their players look where they finished. And yes, Only gareth White played less games that Proudy.

There seems to be a lot of assumptions on here without much substance. Assuming successful teams pay big money for recruits, which alot of the time can be true, but not always. I know goodwood pay very little for their "big gun" players. They go to these sorts of clubs for the fact that it is a very well ran club, where they know they are going to get the best opportunity to win a premiership in a quality competition. The culture at Goodwood is the best ive seen, word of this seems to get out and encourages quality footballers to the club. The management and coaching staff has good ties with the SANFL, and now the base of players they have means that other plays are drawn to the club. Mateship and a good environment can sometime override monetary offers from other clubs.

Goochy - perfect example mate and I agree wholeheartedly.

35 blokes on the Goodwood footy trip this year proves to me that mates are a key factor to a footy club

Spot on mate. Henley is fast becoming a successful club because of all the juniors that have come back to the club. It is these guns that have formed the foundation in the past two years. Blokes like McDonnell, Pavlich, Mehaffey, Williamson, J.Stewart, Jones, Izaac Thompson, scooter berry, luke and lee pastyn don't care about the money and want the club to do well. That's why it's $hit to hear outsiders saying henley are trying to buy the flag. The recruits have been respectful to the club and the reality is, they are not getting paid anywhere near what people are saying. The henley juniors have been out performing the recruits and they are aware of this. That's 100% true. Compared to the amount players are getting at other div 1 clubs Henley are small time.

Have people not been making comments in this forum on payments at Henley for the last two years? Without truthfully knowing? Yes

It is all guesswork from the outside primarily based on rumour and gossip. Players love to upgrade their value by bragging, a well documented fact.
The only people who know the facts are those directly involved.

I totally agree with what has been said in these 2 comments
but the argument I raise and alot of others will aswell is why would someone like Damo Williamson play for $100 a game when he could command $300+ in another league or at another club???
Playing with mates and helping out ya grass roots is true but these blokes would have to be around the $200 mark!
These blokes all play cause they love the game but when ya get older, not that Damo is, but others are, they come towards the end of their career and the possiblity of making some extra cash doing something you enjoy would be a big thing IMO.
All clubs pay, I think alot of people blow it out of proportion the ammounts that are paid.
But alot of people also try to play it down aswell!
get on board the thunder train!!!

firstly... why is everyone so concerned about what everyone else is getting paid? it is just a part of football now and should be accepted.
secondly.... i am a player playing at my original junior club and only get paid $100 a game. i have been offered more by the club but would rather the money go to a new recruit to make my team better. i dont have any idea what henly are forking out but it could be possible that the players are on small amounts compared to what they may be able to get. team success may be more important than individual bank accounts to some...

Only $100!!!!

How much are you worth on the open market? You are such a generous and modest person. You haven't tried to infer that you are a gun player that is worth more than $100 at all.

You goose. You probably play for Gepps were the waterboy gets $250 a game.
