I've known blokes who have taken $$ as they are uni students/or apprentices and have used the cash to help pay the rent. Doesn't necessarily mean they have no loyalty, for trying to set themselves up for life after footy.

Blokes don't pour beers, hold signs, lay bricks or fix gutters for spare cash anymore?

Probably a symptom of the spoilt generation as well I guess.

I don't have a problem with div 1 paying players, but div 6?

You are completely off with this.

The spoilt generation!? It is not a problem created by the current generation of players, its the people who run the clubs who are offering the $$!! Players can't force clubs to pay them!!

What difference if it is div 1 or div 6, its a financial decision.

If you pay players who bring the club more success; success attracts sponsors, people to the club to spend $$ over the bar and you go up the grades; your senior club is then more attractive to juniors who in turn stay and play at your club, you then need to pay fewer players etc etc. And you build a stronger club. Why shouldn't you pay players?? Though it must be sustainable.

It is a fact 'Amateur' League clubs are being run more like businesses and this trend will continue and a large part of a clubs success will be determined by who can run the best business.

I'm sure some do... Not as fun as playing footy tho!
Personally I've never been paid a cent (not good enough) but I can understand when blokes find it too hard to refuse. The clubs splashing out that sort of coin are as much to blame

I would be more worried about trying to work out where Semaphore Beach is, seems you have a problem finding it?

disappointing..we had the player numbers we believe but couldnt get the extra officials needed to run it..to cover all roles its about 10 people needed..will mean players missing out on games which we wanted to avoid..thats life..try again in 2014..

Yeah that is a problem for Mawson Lakes to go down the Triple header path the league wants when we are in C3 and there isn't one team from C6 in it. Would of been good to be put in C4 so we could utilize this.

can still organise Triple Headers with those in C3, whilst not ideal it still works

yep we have Pulteney as the only side we can Triple all 3 games up with but that is the trade off for promotion/relegation in the C grade comp
