There are no elite athletes in China?
Yep real silly comment
They have football teams in China which are worth millions on millions more than Power players on yet are a comfortable to live breathe and train over there
JB has a few queries about Port Adelaide's plans to be the first team to play a game for points in China next year.
Speaking on the Rush Hour, he was wondering which team will be willing to apparently give up a home game to play against Port.
"Keith Thomas, their CEO, has said 'don't worry, we're gonna be the away team', but very quickly added 'but we'll retain all the rights of a home team,'" JB said.
"So in other words, you're asking a club to forfeit a home team but get no rights once there."
JB also wanted to know how long single clubs had been allowed to sell their own media rights for.
"As single-entity football clubs we're allowed to sell our content are we?" he asked.
"Because I might just get on the phone to Star TV, get our names written on the back and sell it to India and make an absolute fortune.
"Haven't been able to do that to date, but clearly that's changed has it?"
JB was also interested to find out how Port managed to get the deal through after a "very, very, very powerful club" had a similar attempt knocked back in the past.
"[They] went down the path of trying to sell content overseas, had a buyer, had a deal pretty much ready to go, and were told they couldn't do it."

McLachlan said there's more than one willing opponent and there's been an understanding that one club is "all in" for some time.

JB can go munch another cock.
Yes, heard him say that. BTW we were the club JB alluded to I believe as we tried to get a similar deal with India but it was knocked back at the time
Yeah, how dare Brayshaw (or any other club chairman) have some PERFECTLY LEGITIMATE queries about a deal so big. We should all simply take the spin doctor, Keith Thomas' word for everything. Gimme a spell

Yeah there is always alternative motives other than the 'expanding the game' lin
The Powers chief engagement officer was quoted as saying 'the power could become the new force between building partnerships between China and Australia.

The man involved actually tried to purchase the biggest cattle farm in Australia and the federal government didn't allow it upon review by the foreign investment committee.

Correct. Was turned down on the grounds of national security. Is obviously trying anything possible to be successful this time.

I think he'll be looking at property development in SA as much as anything and he's clearly using the Port deal to develop good will between him and the state government, among other business contacts. He's not loaded because he's good looking.
He also looked like he truly did enjoy the experience of a game at Adelaide Oval and wants to take that to China, it's bound to be for some benefit for him in doing so, nobody expects it isn't. Might find him and his mates like a punt and the line margins, first goal kickers, live betting might just float their boat.
The SA government is footing up about $500,000 for a 25 part series like the old "Winners" with Drew Morphett that'll wrap up all the AFL games as well as have magazine type pieces on different parts of South Australia to attract the tourist dollar here.
