Re: Barossa & Light CA 2011/12
Spent an hour or 2 at Stocky oval today watching Ango V GV,
What a delightful spot to watch cricket, plenty of shade, great viewing areas,
My oldest son played on the playground whilst the little one was just happy to soak up the serenity,
The pitch and oval looked a treat and they even had sight boards for the cricketers....
Is it too late to shift the final?
Alternatively Sandy Creek could plant some trees, put in a playground, upgrade the viewing areas and purchase sight boards....
Heard the Pres is disgruntled about being unfairly dropped to the 3's today (would be one of the leading run scorers in the Sandy a2s, so he is right to be disgruntled), perhaps he will take his cricketing prowess to light pass next year and the finals will rightfully end up at Stocky.....
Will wash out my esky in anticipation of next years final????

Re: Barossa & Light CA 2011/12
How did the stocky deck play?
I dropped in at nuri and watched light pass get sent in and struggle early with the pitch a little two paced. Made it to 4/100 at tea before brad fairy took the ball and went through them for 144. Truro 2/20 in reply.
Surprising there were no sight screens anywhere to be seen so I can only assume that lyds and Luke steiny have packed them away now that there seasons in mothballs..... No point wasting that white paint on other clubs.

Couldnt get out there today but heard Centrals posted 170 ish on a very slow Tanunda outfield.
Did see the Prez named in the Cockie's A3 side, seemed strange as i would think he would have gone close to winning the batting trophy for their A2's.

Bluey McMillan had a day out smashing them to all parts to post 142, Paro chimed in with 42 as did Monty with a quick fire 40 as well.

A little disappointed in the freeling boys. Good bunch of lads but didn't come up to the club for a beer.

Good sledging by the Lyndoch %$#@ when still trailing by 160 runs.

Most disgraceful bunch of alleged cricketers this association has. (Sorry South)
If they had been exposed to more A1's under the current umpiring regime I doubt they would still be in the comp. I almost wish they got promoted so more could see what they are like.
There sledging has always been terrible, especially when they are trailing <removed pointless drivel> you wonder why they bother.
Light Pass A1R's made it through rolling Truro for 90 odd, so should be an interesting match as from what I saw, Light Pass are a long way from being in form, and Tanunda's deck has been a bit up and down apparently.

Semi Final
GCCC easily accounted for Kapunda on an oval that resembled a rain forest. Only 12 or so boundaries hit between the 2 sides apparently.
My spies tell me that a certain young bowler from KCC needs a lesson in diplomacy.....if your going to heavily sledge some of the best batsmen in the comp, then you had better be able to back it up.........

There sledging has always been terrible, especially when they are trailing, but add to that this year threats of physical abuse with cricket bats, admissions of cheating, and you wonder why they bother. Apparently their coach leads them well.

So they obviously haven't changed over the years.

Amazing that he was selected in the side. Thought that you had to have played cricket or footy for Willaston before you could be considered for that side. Interesting that their 2nd A3 side with all the kids finished stone motherless last. Must be great for club morale. One of your sides being able to do what they want and the others trying to make better cricketers of themselves, struggling. What is the point of having 2 sides in the same grade if your not going to make them at least even?

Hey Norm, make sure there's plenty of snags and burgers next week, reckon there's going to be a good turnout for the A1 final.
Are you going to be in charge of crowd control on the day??? I can just see you fitting nicely into a Weslo t-shirt.

Another one to Kapunda today, took us to the cleaners,
Shows it was a mere hiccup them going to a1 reserves as they are still a quality side.
And a good bunch of lads too (perhaps South could take note and learn a thing or two).
Guess we will just concentrate on the big dance in 5 or so weeks then.
Hey Stewie, wheres the disco tonight mate?

Re: Barossa & Light CA 2011/12
I noticed on my cricket the venues have been removed for next weeks grand finals.
Why would that be?
Maybe Kapunda oval doesnt have maintenace happening on it anymore or maybe the association are considering programming all games on hard wicket.
Has anyone heard anything?

I was told that Kapunda oval is not available due to irrigation channels being dug over the oval in the next week or so. Nothing to do with the footy or cricket clubs apparently - the Dutton Park committee want it all done before footy season starts.
