With the introduction of an Under 7's grade in 2009, in addition to the Under 6's and Under 8's, we still need a few new boys and girls who are at least five years old. The majority of matches are played on Sundays, with the occasional Friday night game as well.
JUNIOR FOOTY IS SAFE and FUN!
Fees: One child - $85, two children from the same family - $140, three or more children from the same family - $175
Club socks are free, shorts - $15.

You can register any Tuesday to Friday between 4.30 and 5.30.

By the way, strict hot weather policies apply.
34 degrees or more, no training no games.
It's disturbing to see one or two other clubs training in 44 degree temperatures.

Welcome Red to the site.

I have to defend Pearcey on this, not sure he was insinuating anything really but making an observation of a rather silly practice of training in the 44* heat, especially kids when most adult training had been cancelled for that reason.
All sports have a "heat policy", normally 36* is the limit so in essence I agree with his sentiments.

I appreciate the comments above.
Under NEMJFA rules, training and games are cancelled if the temp is 34 or greater.
This is the SANFL heat policy for juniors I understand.
If a kid keels over, or worse, then any insurance may be void. Is an Under 12 or Under 13 premiership worth dying for?
Sadly, one or two clubs think it is.

Just a quick amendment to the age rules for NEMJFA.

Boys who turn 17 after July 1 2009 can now play in the Under 16's. Due to nobody running an Under 17's comp this year.

From another Junior Club - a very serious point. All congratulations should go to Pearcey with his work done in Junior Football, not just with Gepps Cross but Junior Football in general.

It is only smart for kids not to be training in +34C heat. Only a complete idiot would have kids training in those conditions and congratulations to Pearcey for his stance and attitude to Junior Footy. Congratulations on his writing in the Footy Budget last year, Although all of us from other clubs knew he was from Geppsys he wrote passionately and gave the kids a great write up no matter which club they were with. Great stuff Pearcey and looking forward to your writings in 09.

Keep it up Pearcey and you are a credit to Junior Footy and your beloved Rams. If every club had your passion we would all be as good as Geppsys when it comes to kids footy

Well, thanks for that!
I believe that our great game is under threat, partially due to an ageing population and the less physical nature of other sports.
I think that every kid who plays footy is a winner, regardless of the final score.

To paraphrase, (mis-quote), JFK.."we choose to play footy - not because it is easy - but because it is hard!"

Cheers.

Looks like this year the under 16's division will be alot harder with the 17s staying down.

Can only hand out compliments for everything you do for Junior Footy Pearcey. We hate having to play your mob because most likely
we are well beaten but there is nobody as passionate about Junior Footy in Amateur League than yourself.

Any accolade you get you deserve for your efforts not just for your beloved Ram boys but Juniors in general.

We all enjoyed you coverage last year in the Footy Budget and thought it great that you would take the time to write so well about
each and every team and player. it was well received and much appreciated. You could tip against Geppys once in a while though!!!

PS - hope you have some shocking teams this year so we can beat you buggers

It's only a 3 month difference from what it has been, might make a bit of difference but nothing to cause too much concern.

12 weeks is not a huge difference and our Under 16's have now gained a few boys who would have been lost to the game as they felt they were too small and inexperienced to play Under 18's.

I hope NEMJFA clubs embrace the spirrit of the game and don't stack their teams with 17 year olds.

Actually, NEMJFA used to have a special grade called 'composite' for smaller clubs in which each team had to have at least 6 players from a younger grade on the field at all times. For example we had many seasons in the 90s where we lacked players and would have Under 11/12 and Under 13/14 teams. They only played against similar composite teams. I remember in '98 or '99 our composite Under 13's competed in a 5 team comp. We won 2 games and made the finals, won the semi-final but got done in the prelim. From memory we won the first 2 games of the season and lost the rest, until the semi!
Mind you, last season due to lack of numbers, our Under 12's had 5 Under 10's on the field in every game, (after they had played a full game), and our Under 11's were always in the 4 and were reluctant to lend any players to the 12's, and only just missed the finals. I think Athelstone had the same problem and were unbeaten till the finals.
We would certainly welcome a few new boys turning 13 this year to avoid that problem.

Thanks to all who registered for the Junior Rams.

We broke our previous registration day record by a VERY significant margin.

But:

The Gepps Cross Rams JFC at Northfield still welcomes all boys aged 5 to 18 and girls aged 5 to 11 for the 2009 footy season.
With the introduction of an Under 7's grade in 2009, in addition to the Under 6's and Under 8's, we need lots of new boys and girls who are at least five years old by April 26th, the commencement of the season. The majority of matches are played on Sundays, with the occasional Friday night game as well.

JUNIOR FOOTY IS SAFE and FUN!
REGISTER ANY MONDAY TO FRIDAY BETWEEN 4.50 AND 5.30 PM, COMMENCING FEBRUARY 9.
Fees: One child - $85, two children from the same family - $140, three or more children from the same family - $175
Club socks are free, shorts - $15.

our Under 12's had 5 Under 10's on the field in every game

Well, nearly every game:
Under 10's games for Under 12's:
Corey H - 11
Jaidyn B - 14
Brayden M - 2
Dakota N - 8
J. Tahana -6
Jason W - 1
Josh Y - 1
Brenton M - 14
Xena C - 8
Steven T - 2
Josh P -1
So the above underage kids played a combined 68 games in the 12's.
