I ventured down to The Parade last night where a disappointing home side were outclassed by the well coached North Adelaide side.
The Legs got up in the early game that saw Luke Nitschke play the first half in the reserves before being whisked into the rooms to join the league side after Port Power withdre David Rodan at the last minute, despite Rodan being at the ground ready to play. You should have heard Warren Partland from the Advertiser get stuck into the way Port treat their SANFL players and their clubs in the half time chat of the 5RPH call of the game. Anyway, here's some details from the 2 games:
RESERVES:
Norwood: 4.1 9.3 12.4 18.7 = 115
North: 4.3 5.5 9.6 10.9 = 69

North: R.Ebert, G.Gallman, S.Baulderstone, J.Starke, J.Boras
A pretty entertaining game of football in the early encounter with both sides going pretty hard at the ball and the contest well and truly alive up until 3/4 time before the Redlegs ran away in the final term to record a pretty comfortable win.

CROWD - 5,404 @ Coopers Stadium
The North Adelaide Roosters powered home to a strong 35 point victory at Coopers Stadium, running out victors 16.12 (108) to Norwood's 11.7 (73). A dissapointing Norwood side lacked any team cohesion throughout the course of the night, thanks largely to the immense pressure Daniel Healy's side placed on the home side. Turn overs were the story of the night for the Trevor Hill's charges and a lack of forward line potency, coupled with terrible delivery inside 50, was disheartening for the fans at the ground.
Hard working Clint Alleway was an excellent focal point both in attack and working up the ground for North and was certainly one of their better players while the explosive Marlon Motlop played what was probably his best game in the red and white jumper. North were simply the better side on the night and with their fast ball movement from defence and through the midfield capped off with supreme delivery into a potent attack including Stewart and Schwarze, new coach Daniel Healy would have liked what he saw.
Ever reliable defender Brett Zorzi was clearly Norwood's best player and was supported well by running half back Nick Duigan, who seemed to suffer a broken nose on the night. Luke Jericho showed flashes of why the Redlegs faithful were pleased to secure his services out of full time AFL football, including a magnificent running goal from out of the centre. Sam Rowe and Andrew Lee just did not present well enough across the half forward line for Norwood, while former Glenelg player Jamie Vlatko had a night to forget.
For North, Toby Stribling was superb, particularly early in the contest, while Rhys Archard and James Allan continued on with their great form. Andrew McIntyre was solid in defence and skipper Damon White played the controlling, quarterback role well. Leigh Ryswyk was superb off a wing kicking 3 goals including a spectacular check side from the boundary while Crows listed Tony Armstrong had some very good moments across half back. David Clarke also played well in defence for the victors.
North Adelaide would have walked away from their victory very satisfied with their performance and proved that with the right mix, will certainly be around the mark come the business end of the season. They still have some talented players on the side lines as well and with the likes of Younie, Whyman, Sporn and Tapscott to come back in, they can only get stronger. Norwood on the other hand will be keen to improve on the skill levels and will need to find a more efficient way of bringing the ball into attack where they need a key forward to stand up. Maybe a Jack Juniper, who kicked 5 goals in the reserves, will be given an opportunity.
The Roosters will head into their next clash against Sturt at Unley on Anzac Day Saturday full of confidence and will look to continue on their winning ways. The Redlegs will have to wait until the Sunday for their clash with West Adelaide at Richmond Oval and no doubt Trevor Hill will be expecting a much improved effort from his side.
