Because I'm so popular I don't want to commit to one event just in case something better pops up ;)

How a large commercial airliner can go missing for 2 days without a trace.

Comparing this 'lost' plane to those lost 50 years ago is meaningless, the vast array of modern technology should have seen to a rapid identification of the location.

Agreed, with all the technology they have planes just can't go missing like that!

How a plane can't have a water activated gps is crazy. Just goes to show how fast it went down.

So bizarre that it is no less fanciful that we end up hearing it's been hijacked by one of Osama bin ladens 39 off-spring and sitting on the Tarmac at the kazakstan international airport with a bounty on the 239 travelers heads.

The whole thing inconceivable.

Since it was a a plane full of Chinese citizens heading for Beijing, I had assumed it was hijacked by the western China separatist group responsible for the recent random stabbings. Hijackers would have presumably disabled any GPS device on taking control.

However, as time goes by with no demands being made it seems it was either an accident or that something went wrong during the hijack.

...and cabin crew of say, 8 people (?) would not be over taken immediately by only 2 or 3 terrorists. Someone would have had the opportunity to send out a distress alarm if this we're the case.
