I know there are a few threads about specific tournaments and series, but here is a general thread to make it easier for me to post random stuff that most people couldn't give 2 shits about!

JJ, was also 2nd on the 2011 player of the year leader board.

Looking at some of the players that made the top 50, I think I need to play more tournaments

Cheers mickey & mt for the congrats.
set out at the start of this year to have a decent crack at the POTY award which involved lots of trips to the cas as the more tourneys you play in, the better the chance you have. Patrick got a sizeable break on the rest of the field mid year and was never realy challenged from then on. A deserving winner.
Happy to pick up a bit over $3 k for 2nd place which should just aabout pay my fuel bill for all the trips there.

Patrick goes alright, didnt pick as the poker type when i first saw him.. goes about it very quietly.

What's your thoughts on the new structure for the tournaments next year? Double starting stack, shorter levels for the 1st 4... increased buy in

Didnt add this part in the tournament changes in my earlier post

Wednesday Night Earlybird Bonus.
We will be trialling giving extra chips for early entrants to the Wednesday Night tournaments in January 2012. Early bird entrants will get an extra 1K in tournament chips added to their stack providing they have bought in to the tournament prior to 6.30pm. Receipts will be used as proof so ‘in the queue’ prior to 6.30pm will not ensure the extra 1K is added to a stack.
We are hopeful this will help reduce the 7.00pm queue and help build numbers.

Havent played in Melbourne for about 2 years. have played a few tourneys there with no real success. :(

As for controlling the emotions when you unluckily lose a hand, lets just say that i'm getting better at handling it. Extremely frustrating at times especially when players make BAD calls but end up sucking out on you. Thats the nature of the game tho and it does work both ways so it pays to just bite your tounge and move on.

Having said that, Yes, there has been times when the cards have gone flying back to the dealer along with a few choice words to the Donkey that sucked out on me.

Patricks a very thoughtful player that keeps to himself mostly although he opens up and loves to talk poker away from the table especially after a few red wines.

As for the new structures, i'm not fussed at all, as long as the tourneys dont finish any later than they do now 12.00 - 1.00am.
Have only heard people liking the changes because of the bigger start stacks tho that is countered by the blinds going up quicker so it's neither here or there to me.

Well the 1st Wednesday tourney of the new year with the new buy in / structure / starting stack
certainly was popular with a huge field of 109 runners. As usual their was a lot of bad beat stories going around from Donkey calls made by a lot of newcomers. The top 10 payout list certainly made interesting reading by the fact it was hard to find a regular reconizable name on it.
Quite a bit of grumbling about the structure of the blind levels around about level 6 as players with ave stacks suddenly almost being forced into shove or fold mode.
With the tourney starting at 7 pm and reportedly finishing at 0.45 am and having 109 runners, i cant really see the casino making much change.

Will be interesting to see how Monday night goes with the increased buy in and starting stack.

agree , the blind level is so harsh too quickly, but its not about the player, its about the rake and hurry up and finish the tourney so u can spend more. do they run turbos there? id imagine they would be more popular. the sitngo turbos are hell more popular on pokerstars.

anyone heard anything regarding fulltilt?

Turbo's in a live environment? Impossible.

Basically what you are playing now is pretty much as fast as it's gonna get.

If they run the same blind structure, atleast u have 5k extra from the starting stack to not be under as much blind pressure so early.

Did they have all tables open from the start on Wednesday? I'd rather start with tables of 8 or 9 rather than waiting for alternates sitting down with a full stack after 45 minutes.
