Great game between hahndorf & strath yesterday. Handorf made 8/187 after Leon maxwell made a well made100 hitting plenty of boundaries square of the wicket. Strath dropping him at deep mid on early. Strath put the screws on hahndorf in the last ten overs picking up constant wickets & only letting hahndorf to 30 odd runs.
Hahndorfs veteran Trafford walker got them off to a great start bowling 8 overs straight to have strath in trouble early. With inform batsman Schofield & mark Abbott gone for small scores strath were 5/58 after 18 overs. Hahndorf were pumped & as usual baker had a fair bit to say out on the field even yelling out to straths dismissed batsman up on the hill. Straths Pelle & Harding slowly rebuilt the innings hitting singles & twos around ended up being a 106 run partnership. Strath were 6/167 needing 20 off the last 4 overs in the end getting it 7 down with three balls to spare.
I see wistow had an upset win over Woodside on the hill.
Lobey nearly got over Nairne who had Todd Heinrich & taity missing.
How did the creek & Ashbourne game end up "jackpot"?
Three games for each club this weekend could be make or break for some teams hopefully it all runs smoothly.

After 16 losses on the trot, the creeks were very keen for a win over Asbourne. A rare selection dilemma for them Thursday night in having about 16 to pick from not including 'C' Graders and with the absence of the Warren brothers and Williams. Still, a more than capable side hit the field and with Johnson winning his 6th consecutive toss for the year elected to bat on a pitch with a bit of dampness in it but not expected to change much during the day. Ashbournes opening bowlers bowled in very good areas and getting plenty of help from the pitch with the ball jagging around a bit. A solid steady start by the Creeks to move to 0/18 after 8 overs was no indication of the shameful events about to follow. Creeks lost all 10 wickets in the next 14 overs to be bowled out for 41   . Going from 0/18 to 5/19 in the space of 3 overs was a calamity for the visitors. Greeks best batsmen Johnson went 1st ball, driving straight to cover and then followed by Tonkin C&b for a 5th ball duck and then Zanker for a 1st baller . Credit to Ashbournes bowlers for their disciplined lines and lengths they hit and despite the pitch offering a bit of help for sure, the batting seriously lacked heart by a number of players unfortunately. Ashbourne knocked the runs up off only 8.4 overs for the loss of only 1 wicket. A hastily organized 15 over a side match was to follow to keep the crowd entertained for the rest of the arvo. Well done to Ashbourne Cricket Club for their hospitality by looking after the ladies from both clubs, certainly by early evening the result of the match was the last thing on peoples mind as the empty wine bottles surpassed the amount of runs scored for the day . :partyman:

Yep :) After the humiliating embarrassment of loss no 17 against Ashbourne last week, we rebounded strongly to narrowly go down to Woodside Saturday for our 18th consecutive loss. Finally have been able to get a reasonable team on the park which makes a big difference. The breakthrough came against Hahndorf in the T20 on Sunday. A tight game that went down to the wire. Hahndorf needing 23 off last 3 overs with wickets in hand looked to be heading for victory but some tight bowling and some panic batting saw the Creeks get home by 7 runs. A competitve 126 against Strath may have been enough but for dropping Mark Abbott several times on his way to a quickfire 49 which saw Strath cruise in with a couple of overs to spare. Creeks may certainly cause a few headaches for teams above them in the lead up to finals as they have finally look to have a more than competitive team on the park now although that could change markedly from week to week as it has all season.

Mark Evans plays for Norwood. So 1.
He played T20s on Sunday. Hadn't played a game for a few years.

Wow, That'd be a turnaround from the day before when Woodside were embarrassed by Ashbourne.

Nairne were eliminated from the Country T20 Championships on Sunday at Langhorne Creek when they lost to Monarto in the Qtr Final after twice seemingly being in an unlosable position. They Had Monarto 5 for about 26 at one stage b4 letting them get 103. Nairne were then cruising at 3/58 before losing 3/0 and eventually bowled out for 88. Monarto went on to lose to Millicent in the Semi Final by 7 runs.

Creeks recorded their 2nd win of the season by exacting revenge of a crushing outright defeat to Wistow earlier in the season by comfortably cruising past Wistows 141 in the 30th over.

Been a HUGE transformation in Clubs Finals fortunes in the last 2 weeks with effectively 5 matches being decided. Hahndorf and Wistow have basically crashed out of Finals contention, Nairne predicatably have returned to neat the top of the ladder whilst Ashbourne have been the BIG mover, shooting themselves into Finals contention by winning 4 of their last 5 matches. Gonna be an interesting last 3 matches.

It will definitely be an interesting last 3 rounds jackpot. Ashbourne have Lobethal, Strath and Nairne in their last 3 matches and will need to win at least 2 of these to make the finals. Wistow are still in the mix but would probably need to win 3 from 3 running into the finals to make it. Their last 3 games are Hahndorf, Nairne and Strath. Lobethal who are currently in 4th spot play Ashbourne, Woodside and Creeks in their last 3 and would need to win one or two of these depending how the other matches go. Any of these teams can make it but which will have the composure and patience to win 2 day matches?

Congratulations to Alexandra & Eastern Hills who won their first Meyer Shield for about 16 years today. They got over the line by just 1 wicket in a thrilling final against Hills Cricket Association at Mypolonga.

TVCA Meyer Shield results:

Saturday at Imperials:

TVCA 138 (J. Page 22, C. Sumner 22, J. Starick 21)

def by “The Invitation 11” 6/139
(L. Bramberger 2/22, K. Pepicelli 2/25)

Sunday at Jervois:

TVCA 172 (J. Page 50ish, C. Sumner 39, A. Barnes 27, Cooper 7/27 inc 5 bowled)

def Kangaroo Island 139 (L. Bramberger 3/13, K. Pepicelli 2/9)

While plenty of batsman got a start on Saturday, couldn't establish a match winning partnership. A few dropped catches made life difficult in the field. Imps’ stick down matting was pretty ordinary.

On the Sunday a 0/78 start soon became 8/122 before the tail supported Sumner. Some late hitting from KI gave them a sniff.

Given that Paracombe and Palmer didn’t contribute 1 player towards the team, the results were probably as expected. An enjoyable weekend. Well done to AEHCA on their win.

Interesting final round in the TVCA coming up. Paracombe (2nd) play Gumeracha (1st), the winner to finish as ladder leader. Cambrai (4) host Palmer (3), a win to the locals will secure them a final’s spot. Birdwood (6) play Mt Torrens (5), the Eagles needing an outright while relying on Cambrai to lose in order to play finals. And the final match between Lenswood (8) and Eden Valley (7) will decide the spoon.

Mt Pleasant/Springton and Gumeracha still the stand outs in the B’s. Lenswood to top off a horrible season with the spoon.
