Isn't that what Damien Martyn did in 2006/07? Granted, he was on a winning side...

He retired after the second test in Adelaide.

Didn't he retire right on the eve of the 3rd Test in Perth?

This is ridiculous from Swann, IMO the best off spinner in the world for quite some time in a dominant team for a long period of time and you throw in the towel halfway through an Ashes Series?? Our boys have struggled in the test arena for the past few years and we've had retirements due to age but I can't recall any of our players to retire because it got too hard? Blokes like Haddin could of called it a day but he's come back bigger and better and been a huge part of us regaining the Ashes. Swann could of at least waited until the end of this series, he could of bounced back for his team in Melbourne and Sydney and at least win one of the coming tests but no, disappointing mate.

Mitchell Johnson comes to mind too TDK- especially when he was getting the world thrown at him in england a few years back.

Soft as butter Swann- although im loving the fact that we can destroy this mob on and off the field!

5-0 surely now!

Swann believed to be taking a parting shot at Pietersen:

Reckon I heard on the radio that no one took more wickets during his time in test cricket than Swann.

Graeme Swann: Hi Nan how are you?
Graeme's Nan: Im fine thanks Greame, spoke with a lovely young man from the BBC on the phone today.
Graeme Swann: What did you say Nan?
Graeme's Nan: Oh, nothing much, just how nasty you said the Aussies were to you and thats why you retired.
Graeme Swann: F*CK

Maybe Don Bradmans Grandmother should have written a letter to the Poms during the Bodyline Series. Ricky Pontings mother could have called Duncan Fletcher to say it isn't fair a deliberate sub-fielder ran her Son out and the entire Australian teams wives tell off the English for using Breath mints to reverse swing the ball. Should get the entire Australian Public to the Airport to applause their performances when they piss off back to England.

This will destroy these pricks for many series to come....
