At least it wasn't Adrian Anderson or Triggy as rumoured in some circles.

HOW THEY'LL GO MARCHING IN
The key goals for the Saints in their 2014-18 strategy:
■Be a top-four side positioned to be a consistent premiership contender.
■Have more than 50,000 members in Australia.
■Have 10,000 members in New Zealand.
■Deliver annual surpluses year-on-year to enable investment in strategic initiatives that will underpin a prosperous future.
■Have an admired culture, built on respect and accountability.
■Broaden their presence in the Bayside region, their heartland.
■Complete the refurbishment of Moorabbin as a football, community and retail hub.
■By 2020, win the club’s second premiership.

Happy with our side for Rd 1 considering we have Hayes, Steven, Montagna, Schneider and Fisher out.

We have 5 players playing there first game for the saints and 3 of them making their debut. Delaney, Savage, Billings, Dunstan and Templeton.

B: Dempster, Delaney, Gwilt
HB: Wright, Roberton, Webster
C: Newnes, Dunstan, Ray
HF: Jones, Riewoldt, Saunders
F: Stanley, Maister, Templeton
R: Hickey, Armitage, Savage
B: Geary, Billings, Gilbert, Curren

Im surprised Gilbert got a run seeing as he hasnt played any pre season games and wasnt expected back for a couple of weeks. I reckon he will be the sub.
I reckon we can knock off the dees they dont really have much firepower up forward my only concern is our inexperianced midfield.

Certainly after tonights performance Teddy- how composed does he look!!! Strong over the footy too.

Hats off to the saints tonight. Yeah- I dont see them winning too many games this season, and Melbourne are not much chop- but they do have some young talent on their list that Richardson will nurture very well.

As much as Riewoldt is maligned- jeez he was super tonight.

Luke Dunstan (ex WWT) the Round 1 rising star nom. His clearance work will be invaluable, especially once Hayes retires.

Hopefully we can send him off with at least a finals appearance in the next 2 years. Has done everything he can to carry our team.

Yeah i know its very unlikely that he will play finals again. We need to find a ready made key forward when he does go overwise we will be screwed for the future, doesnt matter how many midfielders we bring in and develop our forward line needs the most work
