Thursday - 24/4 a missed opportunity?

Postby Brad » Thu Apr 24, 2014 2:26 pm

With no AFL tonight I thought the SANFL could have programmed a game for tonight to maximise exposure, thoughts?

Well SA Footy didn't miss an opportunity to start another AFL in the SANFL thread....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

100%

This is why I truly believe the SANFL could still survive on its own back, it does so many things wrong with it fixtures that hurt the clubs.

A game tonight would be a huge winner imho.

There was an Easter Thursday game last year wasn't there? I recall dogs played at Richmond, was a decent crowd.

The last Thursday TV game attracted more than 74.000 with an average of 72.000 over the game. Being the opening game of the season and involving Norwood and Port, you'd expect a decent audience, especially as it was the inaugural CH7 match.

Taking away those factors, what do you think would be a TV audience for a West v Sturt match. Even at 50% it would still be more then 30k

Well done. You've managed to drag it down inside 1page.

Maybe if you actually contributed to a thread instead of fishing all the time you wouldn't attract the responses you get. Unless of course that's just what you are looking for so you can feel justified in your "whinge" comments.

Perfectly good thread with a relevant question.

Anyway back on topic.

How does having a Thursday game affect the planning schedule. You would have to assume that the two teams playing would be coming off a short rest which in itself wouldn't be unfair as long as they both had the same number of rest days but how does it fit the following week.

Both teams would be playing different opposition so would they then be at an advantage for having 1 or 2 extra rests days for having played on a Thursday the previous week?
