The poll is pretty self explanatory.
I used to watch 9 until they switched to one hour
Now 7.

Not that I tune in all that often, but Channel 9 purely due to the Kate Collins factor. Call me shallow if you like.

It's over the top how much news is broadcast during a weekday on TV. Most of it is just the same handful of stories regurgitated over and over with fluff pieces to fill the time.

its more that they choose things that appeal to the lowest common denominator. they have plenty of time but because even news shows are subject to ratings they dont want people to ever get bored.

i hardly watch the news but when i do it is Ch7. but really only for the sports coverage. sports tonight on Ch10 used to be awesome when it was around.

if you want actual news though, ABC and 730 report are really good.

But i consume my news online these days. The guardian, ABC news, and The Advertiser and Herald Sun (the latter two mostly just for sports) are more than enough

Ah yes, used to love ST with Tim Webster, especially back before the days of online news. "If it happened in sport today, you'll see it on Sports Tonight.."

If I want to catch up on real news I watch the ABC.

On weekends I will have a beer and watch Channel 9 news for light entertainment and the good sport coverage.

I don't know if it's the same in SA but over here in Perth the weekend commercial news is full of emotive and ambulance-chasing stories like cars (usually V8 Commodores) ploughing into houses, teenage party riots, a Subway store getting held up, some bloke getting king hit in a boozer etc.
I'm sure these things are of considerable concern to those directly involved but the whole state??

Just wondered if you had to have a name that is difficult to spell to get a gig as a tv news journalist these days?
