Lowest yes, half of which would struggle to be SANFL standard on a week to week basis. No excuses though, we were outplayed.

So everyone thinking that Port would be unbeatable, perhaps might have to rethink that. Things we're always going to even up a little once they got some injuries.

Try telling that to the teams that were smashed a few weeks ago

premierships aren't won in March or June

Premierships are lost though when Port beat Eagles but not Norwood and the Norwood grab a top 3 spot by a game. We get a big jump on our rivals by snaring some points against an under strength Port team. Glad we got the points but doesn't help the integrity/fairness/authenticity etc of the comp.

Rucks were a major factor today. Thought Bruggeman would spend more time in there than Harvey. That decision may have put development ahead of today's result? Webb and Nelson helped set us up pretty well.

This is the most important point. Why play a recognized ruckman in the ruck when he is not on the Power list, he can't come in to replace Lobbe if he gets injured so let's use the reserves side to try and get someone up to speed on ruck work should the need arise at the expense of winning a game of reserves footy. All makes perfect sense and gives such a huge amount or respect to a once proud and competitive competition.

Just looked like practice for when it might be needed at AFL level.

No that is just controlling the tempo of the game. Keep possession of the ball. Opposition gets a run on kicking goals eating into a lead, you go 1 extra in defence and keep the ball in your hands and stop the momentum the opposition had.

Port had well and truly lost momentum by the third quarter of that Centrals game. In recent weeks they have had issues with sides getting a run on against them, so it does not surprise me at all that they are trying out some tempo Footy to stop this.

On the rucks issue, surely given Port's position of being 2 games and percentage clear on top prior to yesterday, it actually makes sense for them to try a few things, especially alternative rucking options? If Bruggeman goes down in the finals they will certainly need a plan b! For Port dropping a game at this point of the season, while no doubt disappointing, certainly isn't the end of the world. It's not about going through the comp 17-1 at the end of the minor round, it's about who is in front on Grand Final day. They have got themselves in to a position where they can try a few things by their position on the table.

I don't think Bruggerman was fully fit. A few times he struggled to get off the ground in a making contest so I'd suggest that's why he didn't venture into the ruck despite us getting absolutely flogged in that department

For a team that was top of the ladder it was a poor showing IMO. West had the excuse of not knowing which team would show up. The one that played North the week before or they one that showed up yesterday....

I know I don't like Sunday games.

West fans would hardly have been interested ( 1750 were at the West v Crows game in the much more popular Saturday night time slot only a few weeks ago ). Rubbish weather, and there is little doubt many Port fans would have expected another comfortable win.

Excuses or reasons.....you treat them however you like.

The crowd would have been 3-4k if it was played on the Friday night as originally programmed. Unfortunately West decided to throw their Foxtel Cup match, so it got shifted to yesterday to minimise the break until their next game.
