End of season movements. FA, trades, bullshit etc.

Talk on the national game

He would be a big loss for the Roos and I'm surprised he is looking to move.

Two clubs, Hawthorn and Sydney are "there", two clubs lead the sides "coming"* Port and the Roos, after that there's a log jam and a couple of sides slipping.

Very odd move.

Agreed- he's shown he is reliable this year. Seems very odd, particularly when they have signed 2 blokes who are as inconsistent as anything.

Maybe that's why. He might not like the direction they are going, or he's greedy and can see more coin somewhere else.

He is a Port boy, if he moved home I'd see why, but to the Bullies or Collingwood over the Kangas?

Roos have been very good with keeping and getting who they want in recent years, since Gibson left in 2009 the Roos have not lost 1 player they wanted to keep. We have also locked away all the young talent to long term deals.

Greenwood obviously is after greater $ than 1 good year in 6 deserves. In 2013 he struggled to break into our best 22, in fact there was discussion that he might get delisted last year. While he was good this year, there is no doubt some risk involved in someone else paying big $ for him.

I think he will stay.

North Melbourne midfielder Levi Greenwood has officially requested a trade to Collingwood.

After a career best year, Greenwood finished equal second in the Roos' best and fairest.

I'm not sure about that. I think based on Greenwoods form this season he would be a good addition to there side. They will need a tagger with MaCaffer out again, also Greenwood finds his own ball as well.

But in saying that I think North were right in the way they approached this, 1 good season in 6 doesn't mean huge more coin, maybe string 2 together and then have a real go at your next contract.

Just my opinion though.

Lost some serious quality in recent years, looking for anyone on the market to replace them.

Greenwood is also an inside mid, an area North have got plenty of depth in (Swallow, Cunnington, Ziebell) so if we get a good trade/pick for him then I can;t see him hurting us long term.

Well yes, Greenwood fills Luke Ball's shoes nicely if we do end up getting him. Hopefully he can sharpen up the disposal a little.

Pickering on Jeff Garlett, who he also manages:

- He will go to Melbourne

- Pickering has spoken to both the Blues and Demons, and the clubs just have to organise a deal.

- "It will get done."

- It had come down to a choice for Garlett between Melbourne and Essendon

Why wouldn't Melbourne pick him up in the PSD or even a late pick in the National draft, he is out of contract, then they don't have to give Carlton anything?

Sooooo, so far Goodwin, Garlett and Membrey have chosen the bottom 2 clubs over Essendon, good times ahead for the bombers :D

I think the Roos signing Higgins on 450k a year is disgraceful when they will lose Greenwood who at the very worst is the equal of him.
Roos wont make the 8 next year.
The professional clubs (Hawks, Cats, Swans) talk to their leaders before signing free agents. It appears North are run by a dictator in Scott and the senior players havnt been consulted in recruiting these duds. In saying that i guess North don't have any real leaders anywway.

Easier to give Carlton a 3rd or 4th rounder now and keep the PSD open for a Greenwood type who may end up there

Greenwood is an inside mid, Higgins is an outside mid, something the Roos desperately need. He fits a purpose and his best years of footy should be ahead of him.

Im not completely sold on him but happy that our club are not just relying on organic growth and are making some gutsy calls to try and go a step further in 2015.

How would you know who talked to who and about what inside the Roos HQ? No idea.

Greenwood has had a good year. One. Out of six. We have better midfielders that do the job in Swallow, Zeibell, Cunnington, and we lack a good outside player, that can also help Thomas out up forward if needed.

I bet half of you wouldn't even know what Levi looked like before this hoopla.

He's obviously got no problem leaving, so the Roos shouldn't have to worry about replacing him.

Taking a petulant Higgins and a finished Waite is career suicide from Scott if you ask me...sounds very similar to what Frawley did bringing in Sziller and Hudson to get to the GF after losing the prelim...and when the Crows got Carey and Burns in...and we all know how they turned out

Im not stoked on getting Waite, but we'll see how that pans out.

Higgins I think could be a good one. A ready made player who has a few years in him. Wells is getting on, so instead of getting a youngster that will hopefully develop into a decent player, we get someone that they have seen at AFL level, and obviously rate a little bit.

It looks like every pickup is shithouse according to some people, unless its a superstar player. They are a small percentage of players in the AFL, and unfortunately, you need some battlers to fill the team up.
