A3 Pooraka are certainly off to a good start, but that said, they've played 4th and the bottom 5 sides.
I recon they're good, but will be interested to see their run home against the likes of Concordia, Trinity and Flinders Park

Only 72 overs in the A1-A3 comp, better slog from ball one.

Heat policy one week.....rain the next. 15-35mm forecast for Friday might make things interesting.

Reckon games will get away? Surely with an inch of rain you'd think not?

It's hard to imagine any pitch being playable if it is uncovered and gets an inch of rain within 24 hours of play. Forecast for Saturday is now 24 and cloudy, so not good drying conditions either.

All games were called off after a mm of rain in the northern suburbs a few weeks ago so no chance of play this Saturday.

Agree we won't get play.
That call off was week 1 of a round, this is week 2, where the turf are historically less inclined to call it all off.

Interestingly, last time they also called off games with covers, which was wrong in my opinion.
Will be interesting to see what they do this time round.

Looks pretty ordinary. If you can't get the roller on it on a Friday I won't be ready by Saturday. Unless you have incompetent umpires that don't care how the wicket holds up. Been there before!

Yup, grounds with covers that prepped wickets yesterday then covered them could get away, would suggest everyone else is in the bar early.

even ovals with covers will have very damp outfields! wha is the rule with losing overs and a delayed start?

we are chasing 140 but if we lose 20 overs and shortens us to 50 what happens then ? does the score get revised down to what they made in 50?

That's far too technical a concept for cricket at our level. If overs have to be reduced due to a late start on day 2 or lost time during play on day 2 then both teams still have a chance of winning if one bowls the other out or the other makes the runs but if you finish at 7/120 the game is a draw and you get 5 points each plus whatever bonus points have been gained over the 2 weeks.

Having said that, most of Adelaide has already had about 15mm and the radar suggests the rain will continue until at least lunch time today. Full wash-out is on the cards.

From my understanding, the game can be delayed until 2:30. If the game is unable to commence at 2:30 its called off. If there is a delayed start (say 2:30) you can play until 7:30pm.

We had an experience similar to this at Payneham this season. We delayed the start until 2:15 and played until 7:15.

My understanding is this. You are entitled to a maximum of 72 overs because of the heat policy being implemented last week. Tomorrow, the cut off for starting play is 2.30pm. If you haven't started by then, play is abandoned. You can make up 1 hour by extending play until 7.00pm. If you don't receive your full allocation of 72 overs and you still have wickets in hand and haven't reach the other teams score, it is a draw.

Thought you would be doing everything to get the deck up TP, including chartering a helicopter to dry the wicket/outfield out

How many clubs/grounds in the comp actually have full covers though?

Surely the amount of rain that's hit already, combined with lower temps forecast, be hard pressed getting games up and about?

*edit* found it:

Covers to be used by clubs:
Payneham - Payneham Oval
Grange - Grange Oval # 1
Goodwood - Goodwood Oval
Marion - Marion Oval # 1
Reynella - Reynella Oval
Para Hills - Silver Stream Oval No 1
Old Scotch - Scotch College
Trinity OS - Waldeck Oval
Woodville South - Ledger Reserve
Port District - Largs Reserve
Woodville Rechabite - Matheson Reserve
Flinders Park - Flinders Park Oval
Walkerville - Walkerville Oval
PAOC - Park #9

The ATCA on notification by clubs that covers will be available for use, as per bylaw D6 (a) may use its discretion to not abandoned games where the rest of the competition is abandoned.
