South are in for a long season.

Don't think we will get anywhere near the finals we have had a lot of retirements including Brooksby and we have barely recruited anyone and those we have recruited are very young.

We must have a tonne of money left in the salary cap not sure if we are deliberately not paying the entire amount or if we genuinely can't find anyone to recruit to the club.

Interesting the review done at the club late last year by Bickley & Ridgway listed recruiting, retention & list management as priorities but thus far these areas seem to be lacking given how many players we lost and lack of replacements.

From the SANFL website:

COMING
Arlo Draper (returned/Collingwood), Callum McCarty (Essendon VFL/Strathfieldsaye), Jake Arundell (Box Hill Hawks), Finn Emile-Brennan (Casey Demons/Dandenong Stingrays), Tom Beaumont (Tasmania Devils), Ethan Roberts (Inner West Magpies AFL NSW), Hayden Kernahan (Returned/Adelaide SANFL), Harvey Lambert (Sacred Heart OC), Oscar Lovelock (Sacred Heart OC), Darren Walters (West Adelaide/Port Noarlunga), Alex Habib (Kangarilla), Dylan Draper (Brighton Bombers), Zac Earl (Glenelg U18), Bailey Pilmore (Aldinga), Noah Goldie (Henley), Corey Grocock (Happy Valley), Dayne McGary (Returned/Brighton)

The ones in bold have already had a crack at SANFL reserves level and proven to be nowhere near it. Grocock & Pilmore both are handy, but left after their U18 year to return to their old clubs, for whatever reasons.

If that is correct about Brooksby he will be a massive loss ,still one of the best ruckman in the competition surprised with a few other outs on .Apart from Gibbs & Broadbent who were probably coming to the end .

Brooksby has been one of the best SANFL players in the past 25 years. If he has retired, the club should say so publicly given it's March already.
Hopefully he can play on.

Nothing confirmed as yet with Brooksby but Abbey Homes mentioned on SEN that his work has changed at Hawthorn and could be hard for him to do the fly in, play and fly out

The quality of SANFL ruckman is the worst it's ever been this season. If you remove those playing for the Crows and Power there isn't any standout. Only a few years ago we had players the likes of Baulderstone and Parry running around (together with Brooksby).

Makes you wonder who is going to front up for SA against the Big V.

We might have to turn to big fella - Jarred Redden - from the Eagles who is back. Word has it that he has lost a tonne of weight and is in the best shape since his AFL days.

I’m pretty happy with McGree, his ability to play the Fourth midfielder role has helped us.

Boyd arguably the best in the comp though
