Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews

Harris Curry House at Walkleys Heights. "New"

You don't even get a revue. Sultanas are for sultana bran, not curries and not dozens of them. Meat is the base not over spiced sauce and mysterious pieces of stuff.

Mango Lassi was OK, Naan bread is very hard to stuff up and they really nailed the plain rice.

$45 not well spent. Highly unlikely to return

3/10

Restaurant & Pub Reviews

So last night stayed in Mildura at the Best Western Chaffey.
Restaurant is rated #1 in town and I know why.
I had the pumpkin ravioli starer with a burnt sage butter sauce followed by a "250g" eye fillet with garlic mash and seasonal veg.
Entree was very good but the steak was one of the best I have had in a long time and was way over 250g. Nice bark on the outside and med rare inside. Superb experience along with happy hour all beers $5 so I indulged in few too many White Rabbit Dark Ales.
9.5/10 magnificent

Have recently started watching Shameless (US version) .. How the hell did I wait so long to watch this? Perhaps the most politically incorrect show I can recall seeing in recent times. Love it!!

I've watched it since day 1.
William H Macy is awesome in it.

Re: Adelaide radio industry - General Discussion

A bit of a shuffle on AA.
Jane Reilly basically booted from the studio since she announced she was retiring.

Aiston gone to weekends - thank God for that, the most annoying panel operator I've ever heard.

Now it's Wills and Penberthy and its going downhill at a rapid rate from my limited listening.

Sports show back to 3hrs from 4

The one positive is they aren't covering the tests.....seriously I don't think anyone listened to them and surely like me they got sick of the ads at every opportunity.

JR basically drives around going to "stories" until she leaves at Xmas.
I was outside this morning and chucked the radio on. Heard Aiston and it went straight back off. Can't stand the bloke.
Morning show is terrible now. Both way too dry for a drive show.
I reckon sports show will go back to 4 hours in footy season.

Re: I need to know....

Has the concrete eroded away or has water got under the slab to create a void?
Was it a level block to begin with or was it heavily excavated or backfilled?
I'm in the concrete game and there are a lot variables
Hey mate... the block was cut and filled, so the section in question was part of the filled area.

Looked as though it was erosion due to the build being thru winter and no temp down pipes put in.

So I would suggest that the original erosion and then settling of the soil has made it worse.

I'm more interested in what needs to be done to fix? Is it OK to leave and try and fill with sand or something?

I would say the fill wasn't compacted to spec and then with wait water hitting the same spot its washed away.
You could just backfill and compact it but I would be getting the builder out and making it their issue.

Re: CH9AFL DIvision 4 2016

Looking at the results of each side on larger ovals (Salis, Kenil, NH, Pooraka) and with the game being played at Thebarton Oval:

Eastern Park - @ Salisbury Oval Lost by 34, @ St Marys won by 31, @ Largs Nth won by 70, @ Lindblom won by 78 (3W, 1L)

Westminster - @ Salisbury Oval lost by 1pt, @ St Marys won by 29, @ Largs Nth lost by 31, @ Lindblom won by 26 (2W, 2L)

Rd 5 - WOS def EP by 45pts @ WOS
Rd 14 - EP def WOS by 41pts @ EP
QF - EP def WOS by 19pts @ EP

Ignoring all of the above, I'm tipping Westminster OS by 11pts

All that research and you still followed your heart, not your head

Re: General tv discussion thread - good, bad, axings etc etc

Another season of Ray Donovan finishes .. Initially found this one a bit harder to get into, but that didn't last long. Cracking show still!!

I found this season hard to get into as well. Just got back from OS so have the last 3 eps to watch still

Be interested in your take of those last few eps and the conclusion, thought they wrapped it up pretty well

I'll be sure to let you know!

Ok, finally got around to watching the last 3 eps.
I was waiting for everything to wrap up or at least start to in ep 10 and 11 but it sort of didnt and then BAM Ep 12 chucked 10lbs of sh*t in 5lb bag.
Was a good ending and interested to see where S5 takes them.

Re: Homebrew

I kegged my first brew from the BrewArt machne on the weekend. An American Pale Ale (only one available at HN)

Easy process, got a notification on my phone to say it was ready to keg, kegged it and now wait 2 weeks for secondary fermentation.

Put a new batch on straight away, Australian Premium Lager.

The whole process is simple and it took 5 mins to keg, clean and sanitise the droid ready for the new brew.

Im looking forward to tasting next week to see if its worth it

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews

Thats Amore at Highbury

Went last night for my brothers birthday and wanted to stay local

Been many times before and the food never disappoints.

Last night my 15mo nephew and my nearly 5 were running amok around the restaurant as they had finished their meals and we had just started.

I got up to go grab them both when a staff member told me to go sit down and they are fine.

5 minutes later the 2 boys are playing Lego on the floor with 3 staff members and the owner.

For me, this is above and beyond and shows why supporting local, family owned businesses is worth it.
