Congratulations to Sturt. Their desire (especially after the first scoreless quarter) to win the match was undeniable.
My take on what was a great contest - best team won, best side lost. And by best side, best side of any of the nine going around this season. From my perspective Sturt had a hunger that the bays didn't. Stuck to their guns, and really fought it right out.
I'm not sure if Football Gods exist, but the Bays were bitten by them in both the SSF and PF. In the final quarter of each game (when leading) they hit the post from awkward angles that, in all reality, would have won the games in question. Backwell (as much as I hate the way he stages for frees) is a talent, and he was stiff* not to get that goal as the game approached time on. If it weren't for modern day fat padding it might well have squeaked in, and the Bays out to a 6 point lead (then contested ball in the centre).
Five terrific tight SANFL finals games thus far. FWIW the Bays are not chokers, they were outplayed with a skill that some don't regard highly enough - pressure.

Does make you wonder what the H&A games really constitute.
Of the three top sides (as at now):
Centrals P6 4-1-1
Sturt P7 2-0-5
Glenelg P7 3-1-3
I'm not sure how much the 17-1-2 in the regular season really means. And as another poster mentioned earlier in the week, I'm not even sure if top spot 'matters' at all any more.

Of course Glenelg fans can be proud of how their team has played this year, but going out in straight sets after not losing a match since Round 5 should be seen as unacceptable. Im not sure how you can breed or demand success when results such as this are seen as ok. Do feel for the Tigers fans on here. They deserve better.
