The wool was always sold out to make Eagles runner up blankets - what little we could get hold of went to balaklavas.

Must be lunch time.
I just want this week over with.
In between now and then I've got work, fishing, and about 320km of driving to do before the GF, then another 320km of driving after the GF.
I only live about 16km from aami!

Filling the time by playing cricket i cant think of anything better so it cant be that hard.

For dogs fans it must be like waiting for Christmas.

Muppets Out North Shall Fail And Whelp?

I cant believe Dogs fans are spending so much energy on this acronym. I'm interested in the game and the build up, and I sure Dogs fans are too, so lets keep talking about that!

I don't know a lot about Roy Laird, but did he play a few games of ressies for the Dogs? How did he "land" in a spot where he was appointed Ressies coach?

Lairdy played around 100 games for the ressies plus 87 league games including the 95? League GF,

Not sure how exactly he became the Reserves coach but his first year in charge of the magoos they won the 2002 reserves premiership, history would say it was probably one of the best ressies sides ever it included Cameron Faulkner, Paul Thomas, Ritchie Cochrane, Adrian Wilson, Jeremey Aufderheide, Josh Coulter, Ben Walton, Brad Symes, Eddie Sansbury, Brad Currie (C), Murray Hamblin, Jay Nash and Luke Cowan. That side would now have close to 20 league premiership medals with them plus a a fair few who were on AFL lists as well.

Interesting fact Roy Laird has never missed a GF in his coaching career.

Whelp :-\ "to give birth to"? "young offspring", not real sure.
We might not be the only ones. ;)
It is part of the build up, it's the "secret weapon" you'll use to confuse our players and supporters. Bit of fun.
I remember Roy as a "solid" back pocket (maybe also half back). Probably in the last few picked each week. Not overly skilled but extremely determined and fairly hard at it. Over his career from 89-97, he played 87 games (5 goals). He would have obviously played many reserves games over this period, as I never remember him getting any major injuries.
I believe he was responsible for changing to one of the past club songs. Might have been "This time". Not sure.
Probably before coaching would have been described as a solid club man. That's how I remember his playing time.
Not sure how he got the ressies job.

Yeah he did, 'This Time' was the English world cup song for one of the World Cups, Lairdy re-worked the words to fit as a Central club song, personally was my favourite club song, isnt very apt for the Dogs of today though i suggest.

Cheers lads - I didn't realise he played 87 league games but probably his best quality is that he is a genuine clubman being a past player with limited personal success who saw fit to keep going in his service to the club - and my how he has been rewarded - as has the club! Do they have a "Roy Laird" award at the club? (Yet!).

Have the SANFL got that right cos the World Clock website tells me it'll be 5:40am...

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/c ... 1=5&p2=305

The World Clock – Time Zone Converter – results

At the specified time, local time in Aberdeen is 9:30 hours behind Adelaide
Location Local time Time zone
Adelaide (Australia - South Australia) Sunday, 3 October 2010, 15:10:00 UTC+10:30 hours CDT
Aberdeen (U.K. - Scotland) Sunday, 3 October 2010, 05:40:00 UTC+1 hour BST
Corresponding UTC (GMT) Sunday, 3 October 2010, 04:40:00

I think the SANFL might have forgotten to account for your DST starting which could probably mean all those overseas times are wrong....can anyone confirm or deny my theory please? :?

Theory confirmed - the game starts at 04:40 UTC.

Going by T&D it looks like the SANFL have also forgotten NZ is already on DST which, ironically, would make it the only international time that is currently correct on http://www.sanfl.com.au/finals/.

The "3:40pm" is correct for NSW, Victoria and Tasmania only by virtue of them starting Daylight Savings as well (ie 3:40pm AEDT, or 2:40pm AEST for Queensland).

Correct Australian capital city times will be:-

Adelaide - 3:10pm (Central Daylight Savings Time or ACDT)

Perth - 12:40pm (Western Standard Time),

Darwin - 2:10pm (Central Standard Time)

Brisbane - 2:40pm (Eastern Standard Time, AEST)

Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart - 3:40pm (AEDT)

Folks abroad needing confirmation may like to check out the Time and Date site JAS has referred to above. I've found it to be a class act in these matters.

Not at all but His extensive contribution sure has helped along the way. I am sure that if The Club built Him a house out the back, He would move in, so He could be at The Club more!

One of the Gowans' dog chose Centrals to win this morning on Nova. He chose the meat pie with the C on it.
Lets hope the dog is as skilled as the octopus!

Might have had practice, maybe it's the only way the brothers can decipher who's pie is who's while they're at work?

Or maybe it was Chris' dog? :D
