That's an extreme.
What i'm saying isn't an extreme moron, rather, just a reasonable measure to keep patrons who SHOULD NOT be there at that time of day somewhere else but a nearby pokie venue.
Just to take the temptation away for a few hours.
Thats all.
Stop being so freakin unreasonable here.
And titty car??
God, i think your the third person ridiculous enough to try that same line.
Implant Nissan was probably the better one i've heard, alternative name for heroin

Far be it from me to be called prude, but I agree with your ethical call on this one, SS.
Your points are valid, as are your opponents. I also think there's a level of social or ethical community responsibility that should not be abrogated within community style clubs.

I think SS's (and anyones for that matter) concerns are valid, but I just don't agree (as CD would say - personal opinion only) that trading hours/opening times are the issue ... In this day and age online gaming is available 24 hours a day.
There are probably as many people (if not more) who suffer from alcoholism or cigarette addiction, which would be just as worthy of major attention.
I wasn't trying to take the piss with my posts, nor was it related specifically to the NFC, I just think as a society we should do whatever we can to assist people with addiction problems, but at a certain point each individual needs to accept responsibility for their own actions and must stand on their on two feet in addressing it at some time.

The fact that Nwd wanted it open at 8.00 a.m. smacks of desperation to squeeze every dollar out of the pokies it can but .

Northern Tavern:
Opening Times:
Gaming Room:
Monday to Saturday 9am to 3am
Sunday 9am to midnight
Grand North:
Opening Times:
Gaming & Bar:
Monday to Wednesday 9am to midnight
Thursday to Saturday 9am to 3am
Sunday 9am to 11pm
Luck North aren't desperate and can wait that extra hour every day until the Pokie friendly time of 9am. At least the mums would have had time to drop the kids off @ School, rather then the Norwood Mums who must put them in OSH first.

The very ethics of letting anyone use a poker machine at that hour is wrong.
Who gets the craving to play the jinglies at that hour.
3am etc there are people who have been going out that night that might come in hammer drunk or something, or using it as a (weird) social occaision.
People wanting to use a poker machine at 8am are people in need of help.
The opening times encourage this.
And i think, as should anyone with a decent sense of ethics, is wrong.
My football club has pokies.
I don't mind them being there, but i CERTAINLY don't like some of the people it attracts near the club.
The club opens at 10am regularly, and 11 on a public holiday.
Those hours are reasonable.
8am is just plain ridiculous, for the staff it has to hire, the cost of running it, and the amount of patrons they will get at that hour.
Not to mention encouraging people to feed their addiction.
