So you still think we will make the finals next season, even though most of the recruiting seems to be banked on getting Skipworth?

Yeah, I certainly think the Eagles will improve next year regardless of whether Skipworth plays for you or not.

Ha Ha Mickyj, nice one ;)

My loyalty lies with Centrals of course and I have and will always be a member of CDFC...

I'm not like sturtpeter (thank god  ) and have memberships with 2 or 3 other clubs other than the one I support :D

In saying that, being a lover of the SANFL in general, I would happily join as a member of any other club if they desperatley needed members to survive but that would be it :)

Silly Season OR Silly Buggers

How many clubs are playing this game of not informing club members or sponsors of recruits to clubs and players that have left the club.

Credit to the Roosters, Eagles & Redlegs who so far to date have at least made a few announcements which at least fuels their supporters with some hope for the 2009 season.

Are the other clubs not going to have any new recruits, I know on our own bloodntars.com site we have had some supporters that are getting down on lack of info being released to date, Surely some quality recruiting being announced may have got some supporters taking up memberships for 2009.

Yes I know I am going to get the usual arguements about waiting for the up coming two extra drafts but The Eagles again to their credit have announced Hayden Skipworth subject to the draft. I myself argued at the time that the clubs should keep things close to their chests but now being December the 9th I think the chiefs of our clubs should have started to filter out some recruiting and loss news

IMO I'm more than happy for my club to wait until players are signed sealed and delivered. Best to wait until things are 100% locked in IMO, too many variables that could occur that can compromise a signing.

To me announcing a signing and having it fall through looks worse than keeping quiet.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Not in they go in the AFL draft though. If anything it looks good for the club that they were able sign a player of such quality.

Exactly my point

Tassie, what you have to remember is the marketing departments at clubs are well under way in getting new sponsorships and signing on members for the up coming season. West Adelaide for one have 2009 membership packages available on the clubs web site. Not one mention of any new players that may give the supporter who is 50/50 the hope that might swing him into action renewing or starting a new club membership.

To a club like Glenelg that made the GF, supporters would still be up beat about their chances in 09, but for a club like mine (Westies) or a South's supporter, dont you agree even a slow release of a couple OF SIGNED & SEALED players make the job for the marketing department easier.

Tassie also in the current economic client where a person reads all the media hype of a global recession, incentives of a possible improvement through some good recruiting may help tilt the balance to person A joing up or renewing his membership?

I was told Centrals said "no thanks" to him when he wanted to come back out and train with them this pre-season.

Great pick up for Eastern Park, I think he lives close to their clubrooms so that probably swayed him from Kilburn.

Andrew Moritz from the North Adelaide Football Club has just been anounced as a signing for South Adelaide! Is listed as having played previously for Bute and then the Broadview footy club.

Plus all his family are up there, I think his Mum and Dad live 2 minutes around the corner from the oval for the club he signed with, Redlands.

Also, I have read somewhere he is a very capable golfer and had recently paid the hefty membership fee for some big name golf club up there.

surely a league club would want him because he is as we all know is too talented not to be playing league footy, surely west, south could do with him to start with presuming he would be committed to the cause

At his peak, he was in Centrals best 21 a couple of seasons ago but there was always a nagging doubt about his fitness. Centrals have stood their ground and told him he's not welcolme back which is a shame in my opinion. But, you are right Bayman, he is too wasted playing Div 2 SAAFL for Eastern Park. I thought he was keen to have a go at Sturt at one stage, I think through contacts with Jeremy Johncock, but that must have fell through. Good luck to him though, is a nice guy and good friends with my younger brother, played juniors with him at Elizabeth.

I think there-in lies the strength of the club, they dont compromise their club values ... The team is always greater than the individual

Totally agree mate, it's just a shame because Whoopie is the son of a club great in Wilbur Wilson. But like you say, the club showed their professionalism by teling Adrian bad luck, you blew your chance.

Like I said earlier, he is too good to be playing locally, I would love nothing more to see him with ANY other SANFL club but that wont happen now.
