Not in they go in the AFL draft though. If anything it looks good for the club that they were able sign a player of such quality.

Tassie, what you have to remember is the marketing departments at clubs are well under way in getting new sponsorships and signing on members for the up coming season. West Adelaide for one have 2009 membership packages available on the clubs web site. Not one mention of any new players that may give the supporter who is 50/50 the hope that might swing him into action renewing or starting a new club membership.
To a club like Glenelg that made the GF, supporters would still be up beat about their chances in 09, but for a club like mine (Westies) or a South's supporter, dont you agree even a slow release of a couple OF SIGNED & SEALED players make the job for the marketing department easier.
Tassie also in the current economic client where a person reads all the media hype of a global recession, incentives of a possible improvement through some good recruiting may help tilt the balance to person A joing up or renewing his membership?
