since when did u have a bowling run up lol. i think south gawler with a 6ft pitch is more of an issue

Yep - Gawler Centrals .... pitch not up to A1 standard when bowlers are unable to bowl with their usual run ups due to uneven approaches and slippery/sand covered pitch.
You are right about 6 foot pitch as well .... although it provides a good guide to us sloggers as to which balls we can hit :)
And I bowled 1 over last year - although four steps probably isnt a run-up.

daysofourlives wrote:perhaps just a 6 team a2 comp would solve all the problems of having two teams in a particular division and would be fairer on the clubs 2nd teams that are currently in a2 having to compete against 1st eleven sides. therefore no teams would be relegated from a2 unless exceptional cicumstances arise, but i believe it is also in the constitution that ur highest team must play div 2 or higher.

Thats what I was thinking - four drop down from above, and the two sides in A2's currently that dont have an A1 side remain to form 6 team A2 comp. Bylaws are setup to ensure each club has 1 and only 1 side across these two grades.
The other grades then take care of themselves.

Which only leaves the issue of oval availability. The second oval at Stockwell will address some of that, but need to ensure clubs aren't putting in more sides than they can sustain in terms of playing venues.

Does the officiating umpire have any imput into the condition of the ground/pitch prior to play to prevent those unsuitable conditions of play. This would then allow an independent person to assess the conditions. If of course no official ump then is it put into a match report to the assoc to assess and contact the club regarding the pitch.

As for too many sides vs grounds i think you're right timmy if a club cant supply the oval how can they put in an additional side, and maybe this is the clubs issue not the assoc. Just some thoughts

Yep the ump does, but only A1 games generally get umps, and most people just want to play cricket - so arent going to call a game off over crappy run-ups.

Yep - it is a club issue, but perhaps when a club puts in 4 senior sides the assoc can request that they also provide a plan for where the games will be played. 4 Senior sides requires 2 ovals to be available for the entire season.

agree with both of you there it is a club issue and if a club has 5 teams they need 3 ovals available, there can be a bit of flexibility here as some clubs have 2 ovals and only 3 teams. maybe the keynton oval/paddock will make a return ;)

if/when sandy creek are voted into the comp i believe the will be competitive but just dont get ahead of yourselves... and for the lack of use on the forum... we'll let the bat and ball do the talking... no need to blow trumpets on here!!!!! we dont want this turning into a PDCA like forum... save the abuse for the field but make sure you can back it up coz you will cop it ten fold my friends... good luck for the season i reckon you have something to offer the competition but it doesnt lie in online small chat.

I reckon its because you cant back it up is why you dont banter on here my friend.. If that is the case sandy creek will fit right in.. " bat and ball do the talking" come on mate what a load of crap that is.. Whats wrong with a bit of banter if people take it to heart they shouldnt play sport.. Its all about having a bit of fun and if its at your expense so be it.. I will sign out so you guys can talk about the obvious crap like asking if a umpire decides if the ground is unfit to play on. Keep that shit up and you might make it to 10 pages by the end of next season..

What do i need to back up "my friend"???? your the newcomers to the comp... your the ones that have to prove yourself... noone from the existing clubs has to... considering we do have recent A1 premierships in our hands!!!!!!

yet another quality post from mr obvious  whoops sorry maybe i should ask if a bowler comes in to bowl and his front foot goes over the line,is it called a no ball in this comp or is that only in pdca? and if so is the central umpire the only one who is aloud to call it?
