crushinator wrote:"trust issues" thats bullplop. the issues ive mentioned arent going to be helped one smidgen by the word sorry from the aust government. anyone who thinks they are in my opinion is being very naive. the black fellas have more issues than being apologised too. perhaps you should travel up north to the remote communities and watch how much difference that word wil make. ive seen it first hand, as much as it pains me to say alot of those communities nead a firm hand to guide them in the right direction to live a reasonable life

It seems like a lot of the people affected did want an apology and for the wrongs done to be recognised and exposed as such. Otherwises mistakes have a habit of reccuring. No-one has said an apology was a panacea for all those issues, but it is a starting point. The problems can't be fixed without understanding what has happened in the past.

Spoken to many brothers and sisters have you??
Or did you read that in a book or the popular press....
Didn't know we had to wait for an apology to get more better health outcomes at Mutujulu, development programs to Papunya, educational programs reflective of aboriginal needs to Kintore....

At least you feel better though after today and will sleep better tonight meanwhile some poor little indiginous kid will get the crap beaten out of him tonight at Wadeye due to gang violence.....
No stolen generation episodes up there as they are all full bloods....
And before you jump down my throat in indignation at least I've gone and lived up there and tried to make a difference rather than living comfortably in my "dingy little office" (apologies to the Banjo) tut tutting at what happened 50 years ago....
