Quinn was our best player IMHO and Patman was very good and also made best players but unfortunately Roughton pulled out of the game due to a family bereavement so all the best to him and hope he's OK

A Cooper 3 points maybe only two depending on how much A's last year at Lofty
J Hill 1 point
C Young 1 point
M carter 1 point
Smitheran 1 point
J Jacques 4 points but maybe only 3 as don't know if he was SANFL league for most of '07
J Trewen 2 points
Very clever of Gh to get all these on the gravy train and still be under 35 points!!! have I missed anyone??
Guess what I'm trying to say is that while points system is a noble idea, unfortunately it plays into the hands of the big spenders as over time 4 pointers become 3 the next year, 2 the year after that and eventually 1 the next year so if you pay them for long enough, they'll only be in 1 pointer's eventually
I think that is the idea to reward players who stay at clubs long term. I would consider players who have played at clubs 3 plus years local eg. Loffler at Uraidla. I think this is Carter's 5th year at Torrens Valley that should be worth decreasing points.

u r right..but Battams did play and Trewen played Bs and didnt get in best..is he supposed to be a gun??
I thought I did see him in the best - 4th or 5th from memory.
I wonder if he played B's because they couldn't fit him in the points system.........is that the first HFL club that has had to do that??
Or was it another reason he was playing B's?
ORD, the problem is whether it's the points or the salary cap, GH will still spend that much on players so i don't think the HFL can do a lot about it.

One year the would be premiers the next 4 down the bottom of the ladder, it has been happening for years and will continue to happen. In the late 90s 2000 Ironbank and Echunga beat every other team by over 20 goals each week, and the only comp was between the two teams. The Top 5, teams will be close some days and blow outs the next. Look at Nairne Last year, Lost the first round to Kangy, Echunga etc by over 10 goals came back in the finals and beat them both.

Hmmm. Late 90s Ironbank and Echunga were beating teams by 20 goals each week, and the only comp was between the two teams. Suffering dementia Sorce?

Hate to burst your bubble Cougar, but Ironbank and Echunga were both in Div 1 that year. Div 2 only had 7 teams from memory, and while Kersbrook were far ahead of the other teams, it was probably one of the "easier" flags, given the standard that year. IIRC Birdwood were Div 1 in 95, dropped back to div 2 in 96, and were very ordinary in 97. Think that was the year Ken Sheldon played a few games for them.

The Sorce wrote:Cant recall what year it was I'm pretty sure it was the year before Ironbank went back to Div 1 again, 2000. But they did beat nearly every team by huge margin. There wasn't any comp it was just Ironbank and Echunga.

Yeah, I get your point now that it wasn't just Echunga and Ironbank strong during those years, but they definitely weren't in Div 2 in '97.
Were Kersbrook just a couple of Dave Patey-Johns ribs from going back to back in '98?

Haven't bursted anyone's bubble FH. Would have considered 97,98,99 as late nineties?? 98 Kersbrook were Minor Premier and 99 Kersbrook were a kick off a GF.
